Process Flow of Master Data Entry

A) Creating business partner data

  1. Create business partner

In Securities Management you need business partners in the roles of issuer, depository bank and counterparty.
    1. To create a new class, you first have to create the issuer of the security as the business partner (in the role of the issuer).
    2. You cannot create the issuer from the class master data.

    3. If you want to create a securities account, you first have to create the relevant bank as the business partner in the role of the depository bank.
    4. You must maintain all the business partners with whom you have concluded securities transactions in the role of the counterparty.
  2. When you have created a business partner, you can grant authorizations for certain transactions as counterparty in the basic functions area by choosing Master data ® Business partner ® Standing instructions ® Transaction authorizations.
  3. Payment details

You can maintain Payment details as standing instructions for a business partner both in the Basic Functions area by choosing Master data ® Business partner ® Standing instructions and in the Securities area by choosing Master data ® Standing instructions.

Standing instructions are general agreements set up with a business partner for processing similar types of transactions. They include setting up payment details for the business partner for incoming and outgoing payments.

If standing instructions are used in the securities area, the system defaults to the corresponding house bank entries as the bank clearing account taken from the payment details of the business partner’s counterparty when you enter a transaction.

If you do not enter a counterparty when you enter an order, or you do not use standing instructions, the system uses the entries for the securities account to determine the bank clearing account.

You activate the standing instructions in Customizing for Basic Functions by choosing Define Company Code Additional Data.

B) Creating class master data and securities account master data

  1. Creating a Class
You can create class master data for the security once you have entered the issuer.

You have to create class master data before you can add the purchase of a security to your securities position in order management.
  2. Define portfolios

If you decide to value your securities position at portfolio level, you have to activate valuation at portfolio level in Customizing for Securities by choosing Assign Company Code, and define the portfolios in Customizing for Basic Functions by choosing Define Portfolio. When you create a securities account, you assign it to one of the portfolios.
  3. Editing a Securities Account

You use securities accounts to manage and value your positions.

You can create a securities account once you have defined the depository bank as the business partner.

C) Position indicators

The position indicator determines the position management and valuation parameters for a class at company code and securities account level.

You can maintain position indicators if you have created class data and securities accounts.
