The menu bar and the pull-down menus of the SAP application functions consist of obligatory and optional entries. The bold typeface is used to indicate menu options that always have to be available. Entries displayed in regular typeface do not have to be available always. They are to be used and arranged in the specified form, if required. Variable entries are indicated by angle brackets.
Contents of the Menu Bar
The standard menu bar contains the following options in the specified order:
<Object> Edit Goto Extras
Environment <application> System Help
Phys. inventory doc. Edit Goto Environment Physical inventory System Help
In addition, you can include the menu titles View, Settings and Utilities, if required. They are to be positioned between Extras and Environment in the specified order. Additional menus for special features of individual tasks are possible. However, you should check whether the functions possibly correspond to standard menu functions.

In addition to menus automatically added by the system, you can freely define nine entries. As a consequence, the menu bar often must extend to the next line (exception: Apple).
Defining Menu Categories
The individual menu categories are defined as follows:
<Object>
The menu
<Object> contains actions the user can choose to manipulate an object as a whole. This includes the functions for requesting, saving, printing, deleting, and closing objects.Edit
The menu
Edit contains actions the user can choose to edit the current object component. This includes the functions for selecting, editing, cancelling, clipboard and application-specific functions.Goto
The menu
Goto contains all object components or all screens of the current object the user can navigate to by choosing the option.Extras
The menu
Extras contains functions the user can choose to complete the current object/object component and which are not constantly needed. They generally initiate the display of a dialog box which contains additional information/options.Environment
The menu
Environment contains functions the user can choose to call transactions or reports of other applications.<Application>
The menu
<Application> contains the menu options of the higher-level application area menu. It is used to accelerate cross-transaction work processes and to integrate the standard menu if accessed with path names/transaction codes (see Accessing a Task).View
The View menu contains the functions the user can choose to display the current object or object component in different views (for example, when switching between a one-line and two-line display of a table). The functions do not change the data of the object or the object component.
Settings
The Settings menu contains functions which allow the user to set user-specific transaction parameters.
Utilities
The Utilities menu contains functions which allow not only the processing of the current object but also cross-object processing. This includes general functions, such as Delete, Copy, and Print.
Technical Note
The menu bar is defined in the Menu Painter.
