Report Writer Utilities

Use

Report Writer utilities provide you with different functions, which you can use on a report level to make more specifications to your Report Writer report and on a report group level to transport and generate report groups and their variants.

Activities

Report Writer Reports

For an overview of existing reporting objects, choose Report Writer ® Report ® Utilities ® Catalog. For more information, see Listing Report Writer Objects.

For layout control, during editing of a Report Writer report choose from the initial screen Utilities ® Layout control. For more information, see Displaying Report Layouts and Defining Report Layouts.

To transport Report Writer objects, first choose Utilities ® Transport and then, as appropriate:

to export to external files ® Export For more information, see Exporting Report Writer Objects.

To import from external files ® Import For more information, see Importing Report Writer Objects.

To copy a report from a different client ® Copy from client For more information, see Copying Report Writer Objects from Other Clients.

For a transport request ® Transport request For more information, see Transporting Report Writer Objects.

To list the report definition, choose Utilities ® List definition. For more information, see Listing a Report Definition.

Report Groups

For an overview of existing report groups, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Catalog. For more information, see Listing Report Writer Objects.

Use the mass generator to generate as many report groups as you require. Choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Mass generator. For more information, see Generating Report Groups (Mass Generator).

To display, delete or print and to change the expiry date of extracts, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Extracts ® Display/Delete/Print/Change expiry date. For more information, see Extracts.

To delete generated program includes that are no longer used, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Delete programs. For more information, see Deleting Generated Code for Report Groups.

To maintain variants, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Variant maintenance. For more information, see Creating Report Group Variants, Exporting and Importing Report Group Variants and Copying Report Group Variants from Other Clients.

To schedule report groups as a background job, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Background job. For more information, see Scheduling a Report Group as a Background Job.

To transport report groups, choose Report Writer ® Report group ® Utilities ® Transport. The procedure is the same as described above for Report Writer reports.
