Time-Based Order Item Planning with the Planning Grid
The planning grid provides a graphical overview of resources and available appointments in all organizational units (OUs) for which the planning OU has planning authority.
In the planning grid, you can book appointments with starting times and duration for order items of a clinical order at resource level (e.g. room). This function is also available for preregistered order items.
The planning grid is available in views of the following view types in the clinical work station:
You can also execute this function directly in the clinical order at order item level.
Note
Whether you access the planning grid
when planning an appointment in the clinical order, depends on which planning mode (e.g. day-based planning, time-based planning, etc.) the system administrator has defined for the treatment organizational unit (OU). (OU parameter N1VKGPLMOD
).
See Organizational Unit-Related Parameters for Clinical Orders
You should note that when planning order items for the inpatient admission of a patient, you will always access the day-based planning (regardless of the OU parameter mentioned above).
In the view of the clinical work station, select the order item(s) to be planned and then choose
(Planning Grid
) (Preregistrations
view type) or Plan Appointment
(Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility
view type).
If you only wish to plan one order item, or change the appointment of an order item, you can also call the planning function by clicking on the surgery/treatment appointment or the surgery/treatment day. If the OU, for which the patient is preregistered or which is entered as the treatment OU in the order item, plans on a time-specific basis, you will receive the planning grid as the planning tool.
The program will branch to the planning grid, where you can plan the surgery/treatment as time-based.
If you wish to plan directly in the clinical order, choose
(Find Appointment
).
You will access the planning grid, where you can plan the treatment or surgery as time-based and based on resources.
Note
You can plan an order item providing its services have not been performed or released.
See Planning Grid – Time-Based and Day-Based Planning
You can also book appointments for cyclical individual services. See Ordering Cyclical Services.
Note
This function is available to you if you have activated the business function Clinical System Situation-Based Clinical Documentation (ISHMED_SCD
).
When you allocate appointments for individual services, these are always for one or more services. In the worklist the system displays all individual services of the cycle which belong to the same clinical order or order item. Appointments cannot be allocated at item level for clinical orders with cycles. You can only allocate appointments at service level.
