Procedure documentationChanging Orders

You can change orders depending on their status.

This function is available for one or more orders of a patient in views of the Medication Orders View Type in the clinical work station.

The following change options are available depending on the status:

  • Saved order:

Depending on whether events exist for an order, you can adjust the dose directly in the order dialog. Where necessary, the system will automatically adjust existing planned future events. Alternatively, you can use the Change Dosefunction.

    See Changing Doses

To display and select alternatives, choose the Change Drug function. When determining alternatives the system will take into account and, if necessary, override the ISHMED_ME_DRUG_SUBST.

    See Changing Drugs

  • Active order

In active orders you can change, for example, the comment and the preparation directions. You can generate events, or additional events (if some already exist). You cannot change the check condition or the checkbox for the obligatory check of the condition.

    Note Note

If an order was created as an order without an end date, you can change the duration or the end date. Choose the Change Order Duration function to do this.

You can only set an end date which is after the date of the last administered event.

The system will cancel all events for which a time after the end date is generated or created.

    End of the note.
  • Inactive order

In inactive orders, the same modification rules apply as for saved orders.

  • Ended order

You can no longer change ended orders.

    Note Note

Once you have saved an order, you can only change the status of the order using order management functions, e.g. Activate Order. This ensures that the order can only have a status which was defined in the status profile.

    End of the note.

Procedure

  1. In a view of the Medication Orders view type in the clinical work station, select one or more orders of a case or a patient and then choose Change Order (Change Order).

Alternatively you can change an order using a corresponding task in the documentation work station.

Furthermore you can click an order in the displayed chart in the order dialog to transfer this to the compressed view and to change it.

    The Change Order screen appears.

  2. Change the necessary data depending on the type of the order and the status of the order.

  3. You can select the following functions for the order to change the drug, the dose, etc.:

For orders that no longer have the status saved, the system creates a subsequent order and ends the changed order when the subsequent order is activated. To enter slightly different orders that are valid in parallel for orders that no longer have the saved status, you can use the copy function for orders. For more information about this, see Copy Orders.

  4. To add several orders, choose Add Orders Add Order (Add Orders).

You access the drug search where you can use the corresponding functions (e.g. multiple selection) to create several orders.

  5. Save the order.
