Creating an Item
You can use this function to insert one or more items such as, for example, nursing diagnoses, nursing goals or nursing procedures into a nursing plan. The valid set defines the structure of the block in a nursing plan and therefore also the position at which you may insert the new item.
Note
In the selection help you can also transfer corresponding properties and connections.
See Creating a Property and Navigation Area under the Create Connection
function.
You can create items in an existing block of a nursing plan as follows:
You can transfer an item from a standard nursing plan or from a standard nursing plan profile.
You can transfer an item from all basic catalogs which are defined in the valid set.
You can transfer an item from an existing individual nursing plan of the patient.
If the organizational unit-related parameter (OU parameter) N1PFFRTXT is set, you can manually enter an item. This means you can name the item with a free text.
Note
For items of the “nursing procedure“ basic catalog category the system transfers this free text into all nursing services which result from this item, which do not have the “manual” indicator set. In case of changes to the free text, the system will adapt this accordingly.
You can insert group items. The system handles these in the same way as individual items and does not replace them. In the hierarchy of a nursing plan the system displays the group icon for these items.
A parameter controls whether items may occur once only or several times within a nursing plan or within a block.
Items of the “nursing procedure“ basic catalog category which result from a standard nursing plan, can already be connected with a cycle. In this case the system also inserts the cycle for the item.
There must be at least one block in the nursing plan in order to be able to insert items.
To create items in the nursing plan, proceed as follows:
Choose
(Create Item
).
The system opens a selection help in which the following tab pages are available:
Standard Nursing Plans
tab page
The system displays all standard nursing plan profiles and standard nursing plans which have an assignment to the currently valid organizational unit (OU) of the nursing plan.
Note the following display behavior of the system:
The system displays standard nursing plans which are not used in any standard nursing plan profile under the Without Assignment
node.
Standard nursing plan profiles and standard nursing plans which the system already displays as subnodes in another standard nursing plan profile, are not listed again as separate nodes at the topmost level.
One tab page for each basic main catalog which is defined in the valid set
Note the following display behavior of the system:
If you have defined a range for the OU used in the nursing plan, the system will only display the items from the selected main catalog which are in the range of this OU.
If you have not defined a range for the OU used in the nursing plan, the system will display all items of the selected main catalog.
If the OU parameter N1PFFRTXT
is set, the system also displays the Create Free Text Item
node at the end of the selection help. Choose this node. In the subsequent dialog box enter the desired name for the item and choose Continue
. The system inserts an item within the node in the selection help and flags this as chosen.
On these tab pages you can also Define Catalog Favorites.
Nursing Plans
tab page
If other individual nursing plans exist for the patient within the current institution, the system will display this tab page.
Select the desired entries in the selection help. Note the following peculiarities when selecting or deselecting:
If you select an item, the system will also select all subordinate properties and connections which have the Preselection
indicator set in the standard nursing plan. The system also selects the item which belongs to the connection.
If you select a property the system will also select the superordinate item.
If you select a connection the system will also select the superordinate item. The system also selects the item which belongs to the connection.
If you deselect an item, the system will also deselect all subordinate properties and connections. Note that the system will not deselect the item which belongs to the connection.
If you deselect the last selected property of the item, the system will also deselect the superordinate item.
If you deselect the last selected connection of the item, the system will also deselect the superordinate item. Note that the system will not deselect the item which belongs to the connection.
Choose between the following variants for transferring the selected entries:
Choose
+ Close
(Transfer and Close
) to transfer the selected entries into the nursing plan and close the selection help.
Choose
(Transfer
), in order to transfer the selected entries into the nursing plan without closing the selection help.
The system attempts to insert all entries selected in the selection help into a block of the nursing plan as follows:
Note
In the upper area of the selection help the system displays the block in which it will insert the chosen selected help entries. You can change the block via a drop-down menu. This specified block corresponds to the selected entry.
If you have not selected an entry in the nursing plan, the system will insert the entries chosen in the selection help in the last block of the nursing plan. The system will take into account the structure defined by the valid set.
If you select an entry in the nursing plan under which the system can insert the entries chosen in the selection help, it places the selected entry below it in the nursing plan. The system will take into account the structure defined by the valid set.
Example
If, for example, you select a block in the nursing plan, the system will insert the item selected in the selection help below the block selected in the nursing plan.
If you select an entry in the nursing plan under which the system cannot insert the entries chosen in the selection help, it places this at a suitable position within the superordinate block of the entry selected in the nursing plan. The system determines the suitable position due to the structure defined in the valid set.
Example
If, for example, you select an item in the nursing plan, the system will insert the item selected in the selection help below the superordinate block of the selected item in the nursing plan.
For entries which the system cannot insert it will display a corresponding error message such as, for example, if you wish to insert items of a standard nursing plan into the nursing plan, but these items do not lie within the range of the currently responsible OU.
If you wish to insert items of a standard nursing plan into the nursing plan and these items already exist, the system will display, for example, a warning message.
If you insert entries of the “nursing procedure” basic catalog category into the nursing plan, the system generates nursing services, taking into account the update period, the cycles and any existing suspensions. See Updating
