Generating PPAT DataLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • Translators have created proposals in the proposal pool while translating short text objects in the short text editor.

  • Your translator profile in transaction LXE_MASTER includes authorization object PPAT ( Display Delete and Generate Proposal Pool Data) with value 04 ( Display, Delete, and Generate Allowed) for the target languages for which you want to generate PPAT data. If you are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** and your profile includes authorization object PPAT with value 04, you can generate PPAT data for all target languages in the system.

  • If you want to generate PPAT data on the basis of a worklist or object list, a worklist or object list must exist in the system.

  • If you want to generate PPAT data for top text objects, you must do the following before using transaction PPAT to generate proposal pool analysis data:

    1. Activate the Create DEMS Object List checkbox when you generate the top texts. As a result, the top text objects are written to special object lists in transaction LXE_MASTER, one for every combination of source and target language for which the top texts were created.

    2. Merge the special top text object lists into a single object list, which you use to generate PPAT data.

Context

The Generate tab in transaction PPAT enables you to generate proposal pool analysis data.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction PPAT.
  2. Select the Generate tab.
  3. In the Language group box, choose 0 Pairs.

The Select Language Pairs dialog box appears.

  4. Enter the combinations of source and target language for which you want to generate PPAT data, and choose Save.
    Note

The Select Graphs button enables you to insert source and target language combinations that have already been defined in one or more translation graphs. If you want to generate PPAT data for every combination of source and target language that exists in the system, enter an asterisk in both fields. It is also possible to enter an asterisk in just one of the fields. For example, you can generate PPAT data for source language * target language noNO, or for source language enUS target language *.

  5. In the Generation Type group box, use the radio buttons to specify how you want to generate PPAT data:
    • If you want to generate PPAT data for every proposal in the system, select All Proposals.

    • If you want to generate PPAT data on the basis of a worklist, select Worklist and enter the worklist number.

      • If you want to generate data for the best proposals of source texts in the worklist, select the Best Proposals radio button.

      • If you want to generate data for the proposals that give translated status to texts in the worklist, select the Matching Proposals radio button.

    • If you want to generate PPAT data on the basis of an object list, select Object List and enter the object list number.

      • If you want to generate data for the best proposals of source texts in the object list, select the Best Proposals radio button.

      • If you want to generate data for the proposals that give translated status to texts in the object list, select the Matching Proposals radio button.

      • If you activate the Check Object Type Relevance per Language checkbox, PPAT data is not generated for object types that are not defined for translation into a particular target language in transaction LXE_MASTER.

        Note

If you want to generate PPAT data for top text objects, you must remember to activate the Create DEMS Object List checkbox when you generate the top texts.

After the top text object lists have been generated, merge them into a single object list in transaction LXE_MASTER and use the merged object list in transaction PPAT to generate the PPAT data.

Do not select the Check Object Type Relevance per Language checkbox. In the case of top text objects, you must remember to generate PPAT data for the best proposals that exist for the merged object list.

  6. Enter a meaningful text in the Description field. The text you enter here is displayed later in the Description column on the Display and Delete tabs.
    Note

If you are generating PPAT data on the basis of a worklist or object list, the description should include information on whether you selected the Best Proposals or Matching Proposals radio button.

  7. Choose Generate and schedule the job to run in the background.

A popup tells you the name of the job to monitor in transaction SM37. When you confirm the popup, a system message tells you the job ID of the PPAT data that is now being generated.

    Note

If you switch to the Display tab, the language pairs with this job ID are listed. The letter in the Status column tells you if the background job has finished generating PPAT data for a specific language combination or not. For example, the letter X means that the PPAT data has been generated and can now be displayed.

    Note

If you generate PPAT data for more than one target language at a time, the system prioritizes the target languages in accordance with the priorities defined on the Languages tab in LXE_MASTER.

Results

PPAT data is generated in accordance with the parameters that you maintained on the Generate tab.
