You use this application to configure job monitoring as part of the business process monitoring in the SAP Solution Manager.

Activate the required alerts and, if necessary, their thresholds.

The configuration of job monitoring is comprised of the following parts:

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are necessary:

  • You have implemented the ST-SER 700_2008_1 add-on in your SAP Solution Manager system.

  • You have implemented the ST-PI 2005_1_700 plug-in in the managed systems you want to monitor.

  • You have processed your business processes in the SAP Solution Manager solution landscape transaction (DSWP).

  • You have assigned a business process to the job documentation and have set up and activated business process monitoring for this process.

    Note Note

    To set up business process monitoring, proceed as follows:

    • Call the Solution Manager solution landscape transaction (DSWP).

      A solution overview of the SAP Solution Manager appears.

    • To open a solution, choose the title of the solution in the overview list.

      The Solution application appears.

    • Choose the Operations Setup view and then the Business Process Monitoring tab.

    • Choose Setup Business Monitoring and set up business process monitoring for the process to which the job is assigned.

    • To carry out Customizing, choose Generate Customizing.

    • Choose Business Blueprint in the navigation area.

      To include the configuration of job monitoring from the job documentation, select the check box Consider Job Def. (Consider Job Definition) for the business process monitoring you are setting up.

    • Go back to the Solution application.

    • Choose the Operations view.

      Business process monitoring has been created.

    To activate business process monitoring, proceed as follows:

    • Call the transaction DSWP.

    • To open a solution, choose the title of the solution in the overview list.

      The Solution application appears.

    • Choose the Operations view and then the Business Process Monitoring tab.

    • Activate business process monitoring.

      If the activation is successful, you can then configure and activate job monitoring.

  • You configure job monitoring only for systems assigned to the leading role in a business process.

  • You have opened the corresponding job documentation application in the Job Management work center.

Procedure

To start the application for configuring job monitoring, proceed as follows:

  • Choose the Systems tab in the job documentation.

    For more information, see Editing the Systems Tab.

  • In the Systems screen area, choose the system that is assigned to the leading role in the business process.

  • Choose Monitoring.

    A dialog box appears.

You can execute the following functions:

  • Activate Monitoring and Deactivate Monitoring

    To activate or deactivate job monitoring, choose Activate Monitoring or Deactivate Monitoring.

  • Displaying Process Graphics

    To display a business process graphically, choose Display Process Graphic.

    A diagram appears that shows the process of the individual steps.

  • Set Up Monitoring

    To set up business process monitoring, choose Set Up Monitoring. The application for setting up business process monitoring opens.

    To display the configuration of business process monitoring, choose Display Monitoring.
