Function documentationUsage of KPI Catalog from Applications

Various applications in SAP Solution Manager use the KPI catalog. You can thereby use particular infrastructures in SAP Solution Manager to measure key figures from the KPI catalog and display them in the associated application. The KPI catalog thereby contains the required technical information, which the respective application requires to display the selected KPI.

From the perspective of the calling application, the KPI catalog is thereby a selection help that displays the KPIs clearly and intuitively for the user, as well as enables a selection of individual KPIs for further processing.

In this integrated form of the KPI catalog the entire catalog is not displayed, rather only the KPIs that are useful within the respective application.

Note Note

When calling the KPI catalog from the application, you need a user for SAP Support Portal (S user). To avoid having to log on to the KPI catalog again, install a browser certificate. For more information about this, see article 1296615Information published on SAP site of SAP Knowledge Base.

End of the note.

Integration

Business Process Analytics

You can use the business process analytics to monitor various key figures and analyze them graphically. These key figures give an overall picture of business process operations in all systems that are required to run your core business processes. This enables you to identify and locate current operational problems, as well as optimize your business processes.

The KPI catalog contains the complete list of the key figures that you have available in the business process analytics. The catalog is also integrated into the app for the ad hoc business process analytics, meaning that you can select individual KPIs for further analysis from the KPI catalog directly.

For more information, see Usage of the KPI Catalog in Business Process Analytics.

Cross-Database Comparison

You can use the cross-database comparison to compare content of databases to check the data consistency in your systems. You check whether the data is consistent in the source and target systems, for example, whether updates in the source system have been replicated to the target system correctly. You thereby use data models that contain the information on which data fields from which sources are to be compared.

The KPI catalog contains specific examples of such data models with all necessary technical information. So you use the catalog to search for specific, frequently required comparisons.

For more information, see Usage of the KPI Catalog in the Cross-Database Comparison.

Dashboard Builder

For creating and displaying dashboards, SAP provides Dashboard Builder in SAP Solution Manager. There, you can display delivered dashboards and create your own dashboards and tiles. In a tile you visualize a KPI as a chart.

You can also use the KPI catalog as a source when creating the tile. You can search for suitable KPIs in the KPI catalog and select the desired KPI. Depending on the selected KPI, in Dashboard Builder, in addition to the name and description of the KPI, visualization information and the required data source are also usually entered automatically, such that ideally values of the KPI are displayed in Dashboard Builder immediately without any further configuration effort.

For more information, see Usage of the KPI Catalog in Dashboard Builder.
