 System Switch Execution

Use

You use the System Switch of Force Elements application to trigger a system switch in the issuing system and to monitor the status of the system switch in the issuing and receiving systems.

Prerequisites

You have familiarized yourself with the operational system property.

You have configured the following settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG) under Start of the navigation path Defense Forces& Public Security Next navigation step Distributed System Landscape Next navigation step System Switch End of the navigation path :

  • Define Workflows and Checks for System Switch

For each business subarea, you define the subarea workflow and check for the preparatory or final actions to be triggered for the issuing and receiving systems separately.

  • Define Dependencies

You define (separately for the issuing and receiving systems) the dependencies of the business subarea and, in doing so, define the order in which the workflows for the preparatory or final actions are to be triggered.

Features

User Interface

You can use the System Switch of Force Elements application to plan and trigger the system switch of a force element in the issuing system and to monitor the preparatory measures. You can monitor the final actions in the receiving system.

You select the force elements required for this using generic selection parameters . Once selection is completed, the system displays the following data in an overview display :

  • Force Element / Object ID

Selected force element and subordinate force elements if required.

  • Current System

Current operational system of the force element.

You can carry out a system switch for force elements for which the system you are currently in is selected as the operational system.

  • Planned System

Currently planned operational system of the force element.

If a system switch is not yet planned, no system is specified.

  • Status / Status Text

Specifies whether a system switch is possible, is planned, or has already been triggered.

    • Force Element Not Operational

A currently operational system is not specified for the force element.

    • Switch Possible

A current operational system is specified for the force element, but a planned operational system is not. You can carry out a system switch starting from the currently operational system.

    • Switch Planned

You have already specified a planned operational system.

    • In Transition

You have already triggered a switch for the planned operational system.

  • Start Date

Day on which the system switch was triggered.

  • End Date

Day on which the system switch is to be completed. This value is for information purposes only.

  • Mobile Applications

This indicator specifies whether mobile applications are to be taken into account during the switching process.

You can execute the following functions for a selected force element:

  • Planned System pushbutton

You define the planned operational system by choosing this pushbutton.

  • Start System Switch pushbutton

You trigger the system switch by choosing this pushbutton. In the dialog box displayed, you specify the day on which the system switch is to be completed and whether mobile applications are to be taken into account during the switching process.

  • Details pushbutton

You monitor the status of a system switch that has already been triggered by choosing this pushbutton. The system displays the following data in the detail view :

    • Subarea / Subarea Name

      Subareas defined in Customizing.

    • Status

Specifies the status of the check assigned to the subarea in Customizing.

      • Unchecked

When the detail view is called, the system generally displays this status, even if you have already carried out a check in a previous session.

      • Check Successful

The check did not identify any errors.

      • Checked with Errors

        The check identified errors.

You trigger the check by choosing the Status pushbutton . You can display the check log by choosing the Display S tatus Log pushbutton .

    • Work Item ID

Specifies the workflow work item generated for the subarea.

    • Processing Status of Work Item

Specifies the status of the workflow work item.

      • Ready

The system has triggered a workflow work item.

      • Completed

The agent has completed the workflow work item using his or her Workflow Inbox .

    • Processor

Specifies the agent currently processing the workflow work item.

You can display the workflow log by choosing the Workflow Log pushbutton .

Activities

  1. Choose the System Switch of Force Elements application (transaction /ISDFPS/CS_RELOC).

  2. Select the required force elements and choose Execute .

The system displays the selected force elements in the overview display.

  3. Select the force element for which you want to carry out an action.

You can select one object only. The actions now selected are carried out for this force element only, not for subordinate force elements.

  4. Carry out the required action:

    • In the issuing system

      1. Select the required new operational system.

      2. Trigger a system switch.

When you trigger the system switch for a force element, the system starts a central workflow that initiates the required preparatory and final actions in the issuing or receiving system. To do so, this workflow starts the subarea workflows that you defined in Customizing. The recipient of the workflow work items carries out the appropriate actions and confirms that the work is complete.

      3. Monitor the status of the system switch.

You can use the detail view to trigger subarea checks and display the current status of the workflow items at any time.

    • You can monitor the status of the system switch in the receiving system.
