 Address Creation and Assignment

Use

You can assign addresses to a force element. To do so,, you can either create a new address for the force element or pass on an address assignment that already exists for a higher-level force element or an assigned business entity. The various inheritance and assignment mechanisms are technically of equal status, meaning that the most recent assignment of an address represents the assignment currently valid in the relevant status.

When assigning addresses to force elements, the system determines the assignment period currently possible from the objects or assignments involved in the relevant validity period. New assignments have the status Planned .

In a distributed system landscape, you should create and edit address data in the central system, since decentralized referenced objects (such as business entities) are not available and decentralized changes can be overwritten by central data.

Integration

The address assignments of a force element are stored in infotype 1952 and displayed on the Stationing tab page. For more information, see Stationing (Infotype 1952) .

Prerequisites

The following conditions must be fulfilled for the inheritance of an address assignment from the main business entity :

  • In Customizing under Start of the navigation path Defense Forces& Public Security Next navigation step Organizational Flexibility Next navigation step Force Element Next navigation step Address Inheritance Next navigation step Define Business Partner Role for Passing on Addresses, End of the navigation path you have defined which business partner role of a main business entity is evaluated for passing on addresses to the force element.

For more information about the SAP Business Partner, see SAP Library under Start of the navigation path SAP ERP Central Component Next navigation step Cross-ApplicationComponents Next navigation step SAP Business Partner. End of the navigation path

  • In Customizing under Start of the navigation path >Defense Forces& Public Security Next navigation step Organizational Flexibility Next navigation step Force Element Next navigation step Address Inheritance Next navigation step Assign Address Types, you have assigned the usage types for End of the navigation path addresses of a business partner to the subtypes of infotype 1952.

  • You have assigned a main business entity to the force element concerned to which the specified business partner role is assigned and for which addresses are defined ( Partner tab page of application Business Entity , transaction REBDBE). You assign a main business entity on the Business Entities tab page.

  • You have familiarized yourself with the check and follow-up action relevant for address inheritance and set these up if required. See Checks and Follow-Up Actions for Status Change .

Features

Address Creation

You can create a new address for a force element in the Structures Workbench on the Stationing tab page using the pushbuttons Create or Create with Template . This address is stored in address management and given a new unique address number.

Address Inheritance

You can pass addresses on to a force element in the following ways:

  • Inheritance from main business entity

    • Automatic inheritance:

You can pass address assignments from the assigned main business entity to the force element. For this to take place, the system can first check during an early status change whether precisely one of the assigned business entities is flagged as the main business entity. Addresses can only be passed on if this is the case.

If a status change occurs subsequently, the system can trigger a follow-up action that assigns the force element with addresses from the main business entity. For addresses to be assigned, the system must be able to determine them via the business partner specified in Customizing. In addition, the subtypes of infotype 1952 to be used to store the addresses must also be specified there.

    • Manual inheritance:

Alternatively, you can pass on an address assignment from a main business entity regardless of the status by using the Address Inheritance pushbutton on the Business Entities tab page.

For the layout of your measure areas , note that the assignment of business entities is assigned to the Infrastructure – Business Entities measure subarea, whereas address changes belong to the Force E lement measure subarea.

  • Inheritance of higher-level force element

You can pass active and planned address assignments from a higher-level force element to lower-level force elements.

    • Choose the Inherit from Above pushbutton on the Stationing tab page of the higher-level force element to pass the addresses that you then select to all lower-level force elements.

    • Choose the Inherit from Below pushbutton on the Stationing tab page of the lower-level force element to pass the addresses that you then select to all directly superior force elements.

This automatic inheritance always uses the structure currently called.

Address Editing

You can change an existing address that has already been assigned in the Structures Workbench on the Stationing tab page using the Change pushbutton. If this address is assigned to multiple objects, you have to decide whether you want to change the address for this force element only or for all objects. In the first case, a new address is created and the other objects remain assigned to the previous address; in the second case, the existing address is changed.
