Accessing Proposal Pool Entries in SLPPLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Transaction SLPP enables you to search for and display proposals that already exist in the proposal pool for a particular source text, so that you can make sure your translations of field names and menu options (for example) are correct when you are translating long texts. Transaction SLPP enables you to maintain the proposal pool in the same way as when you access it from the short text editor. For example, you can change proposals in order to correct terminology in a translation project.

You can search for proposal pool entries in accordance with the following criteria:

Exact Text Searches
  • Source text

  • Target text

  • Source text and target text

  • Full texts for abbreviations

  • Abbreviations for full texts

Note

If you only use the source text to find proposals, the system displays the proposal pool in display mode. If you want to change or create proposals, you must enter the target text in the initial screen of transaction SLPP.

Generic Text Searches
  • Source text, for example:

    • Buchung*

    • *uchung

    • *uchung*

    • Buchung+kreis

    • L+

    • L++

  • Full texts for abbreviations

  • Abbreviations for full texts

Caution

Generic searches are very resource-intensive and cancel automatically if they take longer than 180 seconds to find entries that satisfy the search criteria. To increase or decrease the maximum duration of your generic searches, in transaction SLPP choose Start of the navigation path Proposal Pool Next navigation step Settings Next navigation step Maximum Duration of Search End of the navigation path and change the Temporary Setting . The default value in the Temporary Settings box is copied from the Global Settings group box. When you exit transaction SLPP, the temporary setting is reset to the global value.

Prerequisites

On the initial screen of transaction SLPP , check that the default source and target languages are correct for the proposals you want to display or edit. These values are taken from your translation settings. For more information on these settings, refer to Transaction SE63 and read the section "Defining Your Translator Settings".
