The following table lists the enhancements in ConnTrans.
Enhancement |
Description |
Automatic network detection |
ConnTrans now automatically detects the network connection when you plug the mobile client to the network and invoke ConnTrans. For more information, see Automatic Network Detection. |
Automatic redial |
In case of a dial-up connection, ConnTrans triggers windows to redial and establish the network connection if the network connection fails during data synchronization. For more information, see Automatic Redial. |
Automatic synchronization |
A new option that automatically starts data synchronization after ConnTrans detects the network connection. For more information, see Behavior of ConnTrans. |
Startup Information |
You can now specify default values for logging and UI related options in the ConnTrans_Startup.xml file. As a result, when you invoke ConnTrans, the default settings are read from this file and accordingly the data synchronization is performed. For more information, see The ConnTrans Startup File. |
Logging of runtime information |
The runtime information associated with ConnTrans is now logged in the ConnTrans_Log.xml file. For more information, see The ConnTrans Log File. |
Runtime Statistics |
ConnTrans generates an XML file (S tatisticsLog.xml) that captures statistics such as time taken to process the different stages (Send, Receive, and Import) of the data synchronization process. The system administrator can use this file to analyze and benchmark data related to the performance of ConnTrans. |
Time out message boxes |
If there is a problem with the environment of ConnTrans, time out message boxes are displayed. These message boxes appear on screen for 30 seconds. |
Persistence of selected UI options |
When the sales representative invokes ConnTrans for the first time, ConnTrans is invoked with the default UI settings. However, the sales representative can apply personalized settings through the ConnTrans UI. For more information, see The ConnTrans Startup File. |
ConnTrans icon in the system tray |
This icon along with the tool tip that appears over the icon provides information about the state of the network connection and the different stages of the data synchronization process. The tool tip constantly changes to reflect the corresponding stage of the data synchronization process. For more information, see ConnTrans Icon States. |
More Information icon |
A new icon placed on the status bar that provides detailed information about the error(s) you encounter during data synchronization. For more information, see Colors of the Status Bar. |
