This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Behavior of ConnTrans Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The following tables explain the behavior of ConnTrans based on the type of connection and settings for automatic redial and automatic synchronization.

Local Area Network (LAN) Connection

If:

Automatic Redial

Then:

The mobile client is connected to the network and ConnTrans is in idle mode

Not applicable

If automatic synchronization is enabled, ConnTrans automatically starts synchronizing data.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You can also choose Synchronize to perform data synchronization. However, you must explicitly stop the current synchronization that is in progress.

If automatic synchronization is disabled, ConnTrans does not automatically start data synchronization. You can choose Synchronize to start the data synchronization, as the network connection is established.

In both cases, if the network connection fails, ConnTrans waits for approximately one minute before it starts the import of the unprocessed messages. In such a case, the color of the status bar changes to red for the corresponding stage of the data synchronization process. For more information, see Colors of the Status Bar.

Dial-Up Connection

If:

Automatic Redial

Then:

ConnTrans is in idle mode and the network connection is established through an external application

Enabled

If automatic synchronization is enabled, ConnTrans automatically starts synchronizing data after the ConnTrans internal network state changes to connected. This occurs after windows or any third party application, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, establishes the network connection.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

To disconnect the network connection before the import process, in the Advanced Settings tab, under Connection Options, select the corresponding dial-up connection. In such a case, ConnTrans disconnects the network connection before it starts the import of the unprocessed messages.

However, if automatic synchronization is disabled, ConnTrans continues to remain in idle mode. In such a case, you need to explicitly start the data synchronization.

In both cases, if the network connection fails, a pop-up appears indicating that redial is being attempted. However, during redialing, ConnTrans starts the import of the unprocessed messages.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You can choose to cancel the redial attempt.

If:

·        The redialing is successful, the connection is established again and ConnTrans restarts synchronizing data and stops the import process that is in progress.

·        The redialing is cancelled, ConnTrans continues and completes the import of the unprocessed messages.

·        The redialing results in a failure, the current redial attempt count is checked against the maximum redial attempts specified for the dial-up connection (For more information, see Modifying the Properties of a Dial-Up Connection). If:

¡        The current redial count exceeds the maximum redial attempts allowed, ConnTrans continues with the import of the unprocessed messages.

¡        The current redial count is less than the maximum redial attempts allowed, another attempt to redial and establish the connection is performed.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

·         If the value of the redial attempts specified for the dial-up connection is 0, no attempt to redial is performed. In such a case, if the network connection fails, ConnTrans immediately starts the import of the unprocessed messages.

·         If the redial is not successful, the color of the status bar changes to red for the corresponding stage of the data synchronization process. For more information, see Colors of the Status Bar.

ConnTrans is in idle mode and the network connection is established through an external application

Disabled

If automatic synchronization is enabled, ConnTrans automatically starts synchronizing data after the ConnTrans internal network state changes to connected. This occurs after windows or any third party application, such as Internet Explorer, establishes the network connection.

ConnTrans is in idle mode and the network connection is established by using ConnTrans

Enabled/

Disabled

You need to explicitly start the data synchronization, as automatic synchronization is not applicable.

If automatic redial is enabled and the network connection fails, a pop-up appears indicating that redial is being attempted.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

The behavior regarding redialing is similar to the one mentioned above.

However, if automatic redial is disabled, ConnTrans starts the import of the unprocessed messages.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

ConnTrans disconnects the network connection before it starts the import of the unprocessed messages.
