Prerequisites

You have created a dial-up connection. For more information, see Creating a Dial-Up Connection.

Procedure

...

       1.      On the taskbar, choose Start ® Settings ® Network and Dial-up Connections ® Select the required dial-up connection.

The Connect <connection name> dialog box appears.

       2.      Choose Properties.

The connection properties dialog box appears.

       3.      Choose the Options tab.

       4.      Under Dialing options, to disable the prompt for the login details, deselect Prompt for user name and password, certificate, etc.

In such a case, when you initiate a dial-up connection, you are prompted to specify the phone number only. By default, this option is enabled. You can disable this option only after you save the password. For more information, see Establishing an External Dial-Up Connection.

       5.      To disable the prompt for the phone number, deselect Prompt for phone number.

       6.      Under Redialing options, in the Redial attempts field, enter the maximum number of redial attempts.

       7.      In the Time between redial attempts: drop-down list, select the time interval between redial attempts.

       8.      In the Idle time before hanging up drop-down list, select the required time duration.

We recommend you to select never from the drop-down list to prevent inadvertent disconnection of the network.

       9.      To enable automatic redialing, select Redial if line is dropped.

   10.      Choose OK.
