Use

You use this procedure to establish a dial-up connection through an external application.

Prerequisites

You have installed Dial-up networking on the mobile client.

Procedure

...

       1.      On the taskbar, choose Start ® Settings ® Network and Dial-up Connections ® Select the required dial-up connection.

The Connect <connection name> dialog box appears.

       2.      In the User name, Password, and Logon domain fields, enter the user name, password, and domain name respectively.

To save the password, select Save password. In such a case, you do not need to specify the password, the next time you establish the dial-up connection. In addition, after you save the password, you can disable the prompt for the login details. For more information, see Modifying the Properties of a Dial-Up Connection.

       3.      In the Dial: field, enter the phone number to be dialed or select the phone number from the drop-down list.

If you disable the prompt for the phone number, this field is not displayed. For more information, see Modifying the Properties of a Dial-Up Connection.

       4.      Choose Dial.

The state of the ConnTrans icon in the system tray changes to connected.

Result

You have established a dial-up connection through an external application. If automatic synchronization is enabled, ConnTrans immediately starts synchronizing data. However, if automatic synchronization is disabled, you need to explicitly start the data synchronization.
