Purpose

You use the Administration Console for the administration of sites and mobiles users as well as for the administration and customizing of data distribution.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

The data exchange between the CRM Server and the sites is defined in a replication model. Business object types are represented technically by means of BDoc types. One single replication object is generated from a BDoc type using the Administration Console.

Replication objects are grouped together logically in publications. A publication makes one or more replication objects available to the replication. Sites can then subscribe to one or more publications in order to receive the data relevant for their work. In a mobile scenario, employees can be assigned to the company and organizations assigned to a site.

Implementation Considerations

To allow you to create an authorization concept, a record of roles (SAP_CRM_MWAC*) is delivered along with the administration console. These roles are divided into the following three composite roles:

·        SAP_CRM_MWAC_DISPLAY_ALL: Role to display objects.

You can display all the objects in the administration console with this role (Display function).

·        SAP_CRM_MWAC_ADMINISTRATOR: Role for managing objects.

With this role all objects can be displayed and the following objects changed (display, create, change, delete and activate functions):

¡        Employees

¡        Organizations

¡        Sites

¡        Subscriptions

¡        Subscription generators

Additionally, data can be extracted for certain sites (Extract function). Within an organizational structure, you can also check and maintain the consistency of assignments of Subscriptions to sites (Assign Subscriptions Indirectly function).

·        SAP_CRM_MWAC_CUSTOMIZER: Role for managing and customizing objects.

With this role, in addition to the possibilities offered by the administration role, you can change the following objects:

¡        Publications

¡        Replication Objects

¡        Interlinkages

The user also needs developer authorizations to activate these objects. You have to assign the user authorization for object S_DEVELOP that contains at least the following packets in the DEVCLASS field:

¡        $SAP_MSAGEN

¡        /1CRMG0/STRUCTURES

¡        /CRMGEC/STRUCTURES

The remaining fields should contain an asterisk (*).

Note

You can customize these packets in table TGN_PACKAG.

You are advised to use these three composite roles. To do this, assign one of these three profiles to each relevant user via the Structure linkSAP user maintenance (transaction SU01).

However, you can also define your own new roles. To do this, assign the transaction SMOEAC and maintain the corresponding authorizations individually via the Structure linkSAP roles maintenance (transaction PFCG).

Integration

The Administration Console is located on the CRM Server and you can call it from the SAP Easy Access menu by choosing Architecture and Technology ® Middleware ® Administration ® Administration Console.

Features

The Administration Console uses data and function modules on the CRM Server. These modules contain the functions for controlling the areas influenced by the Administration Console:

·        A significant part of the Administration Console is concerned with the organization and definition of data distribution to mobile employees who work offline and therefore maintain their own datasets (Replication and Realignment).

·        Its task is also to define and control the data exchange of the CRM Server with external systems (for example with the Business Information Warehouse).

·        The Administration Console can be used to store and administer organizational structures on the CRM Server.

·        Employees working at remote locations are defined and administered together with their user name and passwords.

The datasets (sites) are defined and system users (employees) are assigned.

Sites, subcriptions and assignments between sites and subcriptions can be generated using the Subscription Agent.

For some functional areas in the Administration Console, a wizard is available that provides the user with support in the creation of objects. The functions and the way in which they are used is described using the wizard.
