Use

You can create one limit per characteristic value combination for each combination of limit characteristics defined in a limit type.

Prerequisites

At least one limit type must be defined in the system settings before you can create the limits.

Note

You create limit types in Customizing by choosing ® Limit Management ® Define Limit Types.

Procedure

  1. Choose ...® Master Data ® Limits ® Maintain.
  2. The system displays the screen Limits: Choose Limit Types.

  3. Select one or more limit types.
  4. Select one of the following functions:

Creating a Limit

  1. You create a limit by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  2. The system displays a dialog box in which you need to enter the characteristics relevant for the limit type.
  3. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

The system then displays the screen Edit Limits for Limit Type xxx: Create New Limit.

  1. Enter the following data:

Limits:

Default setting: Today’s date

Default setting: 12/31/9999

Limit - Check/Do not check

This field prompts the system to check the limit in reporting or in the single transaction check against the existing utilizations. If the field is set to Check, a red traffic light is displayed in reporting if the limit is exceeded. If it is set to Do not check, then in reporting and in the single transaction check no red traffic light is displayed for exceeded limits.

Limit currency

  • You can enter a default currency in the field Limit currency in the Customizing for the limit type. If no such setting was made in Customizing, the default value is the currency of the company code.
  • You can change the currency subsequently.
  • The system converts the currency of all transactions attributed to this credit line to the limit currency.

Internal limit amount

The internal limit amount is always greater that the external limit amount or critical limit usage.

External limit amount

The external limit amount is always less than the internal limit amount. It triggers a warning (yellow traffic light) once a certain amount has been exceeded.

Note

The setting, defining whether the early warning is triggered by an external limit amount or a percentage of the internal limit amount, is made in Customizing.

Critical limit utilization in %

This triggers a warning (yellow traffic light) once a particular percentage of the internal limit amount has been exceeded.

Note

The setting, defining whether the early warning is triggered by an external limit amount or a percentage of the internal limit amount, is made in Customizing.

Maximum risk commitment period in months

The maximum risk commitment period specifies with which risk commitment period a transaction may still be attributed to the limit.

Note

When entering limits, make use of the input help: T for thousand and M for million.
