You can manually create standard drugs (e.g. tablets or suppositories manufactured by a pharmaceutical company) for an internal drug catalog.

You can also integrate these standard drugs in a drug hierarchy during creation.

Prerequisites

You have executed the configuration functions in the Drug Catalog node in the Implementation Guide.

Procedure

  1. In the Catalog group box on the drug management selection screen (initial screen) enter an internal drug catalog.

    If you have set the user parameter N1ME_CAT, the system presets the internal drug catalog.

  2. Choose Create Standard Drug Standard Drug (Create Standard Drug).

    The Create Standard Drug dialog box appears.

  3. Enter the data as required, and then choose Transfer (Transfer).

    The system presets the drug catalog from the selection screen.

    The possible options for the drug level depend on the definition of drug levels for the drug catalog.

    If several drug levels are available, you can also enter a superordinate drug if you select a lower level. The system will then assign the new drug to the superordinate drug during creation. The input help for the superordinate drug calls the drug search.

    Note Note

    In the input help for drug category the system only offers drug categories for standard drugs.

    You should note that you can also create standard infusions and standard nutritional solutions as standard drugs. However, you cannot enter ingredients for these standard infusions or nutritional solutions.

    You should note that the mnemonic (drug name) must be unique within an institution.

    The Drug Management screen appears.

  4. You enter the necessary data on the corresponding tab pages.

    The system presets the data entered in the Create Standard Drug dialog box (e.g. drug name).

    The Presentation tab page is available for standard drugs, where you can enter the reference dose, package size, etc. See Presentation Tab Page

    Note that the Ingredients tab page is not available for standard drugs.

    Depending on whether you have entered a superordinate drug in the Create Standard Drug dialog box, the system proceeds as follows:

    • If you have already entered a superordinate drug in the Create Standard Drugdialog box the system transfers all information which must or can be inherited (e.g. generic name, reference dose, references, drug messages, etc.) into the new drug to be created.

      To change or check the inheritance of attributes, choose Change Assignment (Change Assignment). See Changing Assignments

      You can also assign subordinate drugs to the drug.

    • If you have not entered a superordinate drug in the Create Standard Drug dialog box, you can use the functions in the navigational area to assign superordinate or subordinate drugs.

  5. Save the drug.

    Select the Activate pushbutton with the quick info text Activate to make the drug available for further use within the medication module.
