In the navigation area you can use the provided functions to manage or edit drug assignments or create subordinate drugs.

Prerequisites

You have defined several drug levels in the internal drug catalog and can therefore hierarchically assign drugs.

Activities

You can execute the following functions for the drugs in the navigation area (assigned and unassigned):

  • Creating Subordinate Drugs

  • Assigning Subordinate Drugs

  • Assigning Superordinate Drugs

  • Collective Activation of Multiple Drugs

    To be able to use a drug for medication orders, etc. you must activate it. See Functions in Work Area (Detail Area).

    You can also activate several drugs together. To do this, select several drugs in the navigation area and choose Activate Drug (Activate Drug). The system will display all selected and not yet active drugs of the respective drug hierarchy as well as drugs that must be activated together in the Status Change dialog. You can activate these drugs collectively if the activation checks do not return any errors for these drugs.

  • Collective Deactivation of Multiple Drugs

    To be able to exclude a drug, which is already in use in medication orders, from further use, you must deactivate this drug. See Functions in Work Area (Detail Area).

    You can also deactivate several drugs together. To do this, select several drugs in the navigation area and choose Deactivate Drug (Deactivate Drug)). The system will display all selected and active drugs of the respective drug hierarchy as well as drugs that must be deactivated together in the status change dialog. You can deactivate these drugs collectively if the deactivation checks do not return any errors for these drugs.

  • Reset Activation

    To be able to edit much of the information blocked with activated drugs again, you can reset the activation of drugs.

    To do this, select one or more drugs and choose Reset Activation (Reset Activation).

    Note Note

    You cannot reset the activation for drugs that are already used in orders or order templates.

  • Set the Purposes for Multiple Drugs

    Select several drugs in the navigation area and choose Change Purpose (Change Purpose).

    The system displays a screen with the purposes, where you can set the same purposes for all selected drugs.

    Furthermore, the purpose can also be set by an external program (for example, pharmacy system) via an RFC function. The RFC function ISHMED_ME_PHL_SET_PURPOSE in the function module N1ME_PHL_RFC is available for this.

    The drug can be identified in the calling external program as follows:

    • using the catalog ID of the drug in the external drug catalog in use

    • using a general parameter of the drug (name and value of parameter)

    • using the material number of the drug in the materials management system (MM)

  • Set the Standard Drug indicator for the purpose

    For assigned drugs, you can use a hotspot in the respective column of the purpose in the Administration, Dispensing, and Prescription Printout columns for subordinate drugs to set the current standard drug for the relevant purpose. However, this is only possible if the drug is assigned to a drug on a higher drug level and either “Search Only” or “Used” is flagged for the respective purpose.

  • Delete Assignment

    This function is only available for drugs in the drug hierarchy which have one or more assignments to drugs at other drug levels (upper part of navigation area).

    • Select a drug and choose Undo Assignment (Undo Assignment).

    • In the Remove Assignments dialog box, select the assignments that you wish to delete and choose Remove (Remove).

  • Copy drug

    • Select a drug and choose Copy Drug (Copy Drug).

    • In the Copy Drug dialog, copy the code of the new drug to be created and choose Transfer (Transfer). Note that the mnemonic must be a catalog-wide unique label for the drug.

    When copying the system will transfer all information of the original drug apart from, for example the following data:

    • Drug name

    • Drug description

    • Status and corresponding validity of drug (for example, active)

      Note Note

      With this function the system creates newly created drugs at the same Drug Level of the drug hierarchy, as the drug which you selected as the template for copying.

      When copying, the system also transfers the assignment to a superordinate drug of the original drug into the newly created drug, but not the assignment of subordinate drugs.

    The system automatically creates copied drugs with the Manually Created indicator.

    You can customer-specifically enhance the copying of a drug using the business add-in ISHMED_ME_MD_COPY_DRUG.

  • Delete drug

    Select a drug and choose Delete Drug (Delete Drug) and confirm the deletion of the drug in the subsequently displayed dialog.

    Note Note

    Drugs which are already used as follows cannot be deleted, only deactivated:

    • The drug is already in use in a medication order (ended orders, for example, are also relevant).

    • The drug is already in use in a medication event.

    • The drug is used as an ingredient of another drug.

    • A preparation for the drug is already entered in the system.

    • The drug is already in use in an order template.
