Creating Subordinate Drugs
You can create a subordinate drug for the drug which is selected in the drug management navigation area.
The system will automatically assign the subordinate drug to the next lowest drug level. If you only use one drug level, you cannot use this function.
Note
You should note that you can only use this function to create standard drugs as subordinate drugs.
The following drugs cannot be assigned to another drug and therefore included in a drug hierarchy.
Drugs of the patient's own medication (Pat. Own Med
. indicator on the General
tab page in the drug master)
Drugs where the Type of Drug Category is not equal to the value "Standard Drugs" (for example infusions with the "Fixed" or "Changeable" type of drug category)
You have defined several drug levels for the internal drug catalog in use.
In the navigation area, select a drug for which you wish to create a subordinate drug, and then choose
(Create Subordinate Drug
).
Note
As the drug to be created should be created at the next lowest drug level, you cannot use this function for drugs at the lowest level.
The Create Standard Drug
dialog box appears.
Enter the required mnemonic and the drug category (for standard drugs) for the drug to be created and confirm by choosing
(Transfer
).
The system transfers the information on the internal drug catalog (formulary), the drug level and the superordinate drug from the drug selected in the navigation area.

Enter the required data.
When you create a subordinate drug the system transfers all information from the superordinate drug which can or must be inherited.

The system will not, for example transfer the following data into the drug to be created.
Drug Name
Drug description
Status and corresponding validity of drug (e.g. active)
Information which you can flag for inheritance in the superordinate drug, but have no selected (e.g. references to external catalogs, drug messages, general parameters, etc.)
Save the new drug.
