Service Operations
Service operations can be started either via the Wall Device Manager Administration Client or by scanning service barcodes on the Dispenser UI or on self-scanning devices.
The Wall Device Manager Administration Client is a web-based application that can be accessed via browsers using the following URL: https://{WDM-host}:{port}/app-wdm/#/admin.
Device Overview
This main function of the Wall Device Manager Administration Client is used by a service person to get a status overview of all self-scanning devices within a store. The service person may check the status, the location (if the device is located on the wall) and some more information of the device.
The "Device Overview" mask shows an overview of all self-scanning devices within the store. The following data of the self-scanning devices is displayed in the table:
- Device ID
- Device status
- Battery status
- Wall
- Row
- Column
- Customer ID
- Software version
- Version master data import
- Last message
The table is sorted by "Wall" in ascending order and within the "Wall" by "Row" and "Column" in ascending order. The user is able to change the sorting and to sort the table by table header in ascending/descending order.
Additionally, filtering in each column (except the "Last Message" column) is possible by pressing the table header and editing the filter criteria in the input field. For example, it is possible to filter in the "Device Status" column for all "Available" devices or in the "Battery Status in %" column for all devices with a battery status "<40".
Out of Service
The check-in area can be taken out of operation manually for various reasons. To do so, the out-of-service barcode (EAN-13 with prefix 146) is scanned, triggering the "Out of Service" message on the device screen. Additionally, a type 10 message indicating "Out of Service" appears on the dispenser UI. While in the "Check-in Closed" status, customers are unable to pick up a self-scanning device for their shopping trip.
To reactivate the check-in area, the out-of-service barcode must be scanned again.
Self-Scanning Device Bulk Unlock Function
A staff member must periodically remove mobile self-scanning devices from the cradles at the disposal station and return them to the dispensing station. The following steps have to be proceeded for the bulk-unlock function:
- The function is triggered by scanning the specific barcode from a single self-scanning device. The single self-scanning device can be either in the cradle (Zebra devices) or has to be unlocked from the cradle (Zebra, Data logic devices). It is possible either via physical plastic key or by scanning the single unlock barcode. The barcode can be scanned by a self-scanning device, which is in one of following states: AVAILABLE, TRANSFER, NOT_AVAILABLE, UNKNOWN (= the self-scanning device must not be in the SHOPPING state).
- If the barcode for bulk unlock is scanned, the function started. The identification of wall from which the devices should be unlocked is needed. This step is done via the scanning of QR code with a Wall ID.
- The cradles are then unlocked, allowing the devices to be retrieved. The removed self scanning devices are in TRANSFER state and can then be placed into empty cradles at the dispensing station. The number of unlocked devices is configurable (see Customizing Guide - Self-Scanning Client).
- If the device is not taken over for a predefined time period, it is locked again. This time can be configured (see Customizing Guide - Self-Scanning Client).
