Rescan
In accordance with a defined set of rules, the Fraud Detection Service can decide whether a customer is at a higher risk of fraud based on the items in the shopping cart, on the customer's purchase history, or through a random check.
The rescan is only triggered during the end-of-trip procedure. In this case, the Self Scanning Service informs the customer to call an employee to perform the rescan together with them. The customer cannot pay for their purchase before the rescan. Instead, a QR code is displayed on the customer app with the message "You can proceed with mobile payment after successful rescan".
The rescan is performed as follows:
- Launch the Rescan function in the Employee App
- Scan the QR code from the customer app
- Scan the items that the customer has in the basket
The Employee App confirms/declines the partial rescan by sending a new transaction to the transaction pool with the additional fields required. If a discrepancy is detected, the customer must be subject to a full rescan at a stationary POS or SCO station.
