Introduction

This document outlines the factors influencing the sizing of the following applications: POS Server

This document describes the requirements for CPU, RAM, HDD storage, etc. and gives additional information about application scaling.

  • The POS Server is mainly responsible for handling the Enterprise Transaction Pool, where cash register/POS Server transactions are stored.
  • The POS Server provides several accounting and reporting functions, which are accessible in the productive environment via a user interface.
  • Operations that can be performed with the transactions:
    • Accounting
    • Reporting
    • Exporting
  • Accounting and reporting results are provided via calculations. The results are mostly used as data sources for reporting.
  • Transactions can be assigned to reporting periods of different types which are closed and opened by master calculations (TillSummary, SafeSummary, StoreSummary).
  • The standard product exports are currently designed to process transactions one-by-one and map them to several formats (POSLog and JSON).
