 Maintenance Profile

Definition

A maintenance profile contains SAP SCM-specific planning data for an SAP R/3 maintenance plan. It contains header data and items.

Use

When you assign a maintenance plan to a maintenance object in SAP SCM, you have to specify a maintenance profile for the object-maintenance plan combination. In the planning run the system uses the specified maintenance profile to retrieve planning parameters, such as planning horizon or planning priority.

A maintenance profile must have the same number of items as the SAP R/3 maintenance plan with which it is assigned to an object.

A maintenance profile is used for a specific planning version. You create it for the active planning version 000 and can enhance it for other planning versions.

Structure

A maintenance profile contains the following parameters on header level:

  • Profile number for external and internal number assignment

For external number assignment, you use the number range with numbers starting with a character. For internal number assignment, you use the numeric number range.

  • Profile description (language-dependent)

The description you create for planning version 000 is also used for all other planning versions.

  • Priority (planning version-dependent)

If you plan multiple maintenance plans, the priority is used to determine which maintenance plan is planned first.

  • Planning Horizon (planning version-dependent)

Planning of a maintenance plan is made up to the end of a defined horizon starting from today.

  • Fixing Horizon (planning version-dependent)

The automated planning run does not plan work packages inside a fixing horizon. Such work packages can be moved manually.

A maintenance profile contains the following parameters on item level:

  • Item description (language-dependent)

The description is taken from the Check Type description.

  • Check Type

The check type characterizes the maintenance task. The check type is also taken as the description to portray orders in the planning board.

  • Check Task List

The check task list contains the list of maintenance activities to be carried out.

  • Average Duration

The average duration is used to display a maintenance task on the service area for unplanned demands. The system also uses the average duration to plan the next demand of the same maintenance plan. For more information, see Calculation of Due Dates .

  • Tolerance Profile

The tolerance profile determines planning flexibility of an item.

  • Planning Type

The planning type determines the strategy the system uses to plan a maintenance demand .

  • Slot Task List

The slot task list determines which slot task list has to be used to create a slot for planning type Create Slot . This field is only visible if you have selected planning type Create Slot .

  • Preferred Slot Type

The preferred slot type contains a list of check types for planning type Find Slot . SAP SCM searches for a slot that has a check type which matches one of the slots in this list. This field is only visible if you have selected planning type Find Slot .

  • Preferred Check Type

The preferred check type contains a list of check types for planning type Packaging . SAP SCM searches for a work package containing a master demand with a check type which matches one of the checks in this list. This field is only visible if you have selected planning type Packaging .

  • Check Interval Definition for Item

The check interval definition allows you to schedule maintenance objects with no external maintenance plan. You define counter types and interval lengths, and specify whether a check becomes due when any or all of the specified counters are met.
