Planning Types Determines the strategy the system uses when planning a maintenance demand.
Maintenance and Service Planning
has the following planning types:
Create Slot
When planning with this planning type:
SAP SCM creates a slot.
In the automated planning run , SAP SCM uses finite scheduling.
Alternatively, in interactive planning you enter the required date for the demand (that is, you use infinite scheduling).
For information about how the demand is planned, see Planning of a Demand .
Find Slot
When planning with this planning type:
In the automated planning run, SAP SCM searches for a free slot with a check type that corresponds to one of the preferred slot types.
In interactive planning, you identify the required free slot in the plan; the check type does not have to be valid for the slot that you select.
For information about how the demand is planned, see Planning of a Demand .
Packaging
This planning type specifies that the demand should be packaged to another work package, which must have the same installation location as the maintenance object of the demand. When planning with this planning type:
In the automated planning run, SAP SCM packages an unplanned demand to a planned work package that corresponds to one of the preferred check types.
In interactive planning, you can package an unplanned demand to any given work package providing they both have the same installation location.
For information about how the demand is planned, see Planning of a Demand .
You assign the planning type in the maintenance profile .
