Planning of a Demand When planning a demand in
Maintenance and Service Planning
(MSP), SAP SCM checks whether the order lies within the
tolerance windowof the demand, lies within the fixing horizon, or has been manually fixed. If one of these applies, SAP SCM does not plan the demand. If none apply, the following steps are valid.
Create or find slot:
SAP SCM starts from the preferred start of the demand and goes forward to the latest start to create or find a slot for the maintenance demand.
If this is not possible, SAP SCM starts from the preferred start of the demand and goes backward to the earliest start to create or find a slot for the maintenance demand.
You can manually plan the demand where you require it.
Create order:
Once a slot has been created or found, the following applies:
The duration of the slot must be equal to or longer than the duration of the order.
SAP SCM schedules as follows:
Initially, SAP SCM uses finite forward scheduling (that is, it also takes account of the existing resource load), starting from the slot start date and time .
If finite scheduling is not possible, SAP SCM uses infinite scheduling (that is, it does not take account of the existing resource load), putting the start of the order to the start of the slot .
If SAP SCM is not able to create the order inside the slot, the whole package becomes unplanned.
