You set the presentation differently based on the selected template.

Prerequisites

Users running the application as administrators can create User-Defined Hierarchies. If you do not see the User-defined hierarchies drop-down list, it means that either you are not the administrator, or you started the user as the administrator but the dimensional model does not have User-Defined Hierarchies allocated for its dimensions. In this case, you cannot create User-Defined hierarchies.

Features

You can set the limits, layouts, and presentations in all the templates.

The following features are standard throughout Ranking, Navigator, Exceptions, and Contributions:

  • You can specify the maximum number of rows to display in the table. If you try to display more members than the maximum allowed, the extra members are not displayed in the table.

  • You can specify the number of characters to display for labels displayed down the column.

The ellipses appear at the part of the label that is trimmed. For example, if you display 10 characters trimmed from the left, a label such as abcdefghijklm appears as ...defghijklm. If a user places the mouse on the trimmed label, a fly-by box displays, containing the whole label. Special characters such as periods (.) and slashes (/) are counted. The ellipses count as part of the label, so you might want to take that into consideration when specifying the number of characters to trim. For example, if you select to display 30 characters, 27 characters of the label are displayed with the ellipses.

  • You can fully display labels that were previously trimmed.

  • You can create a User-Defined Hierarchy.

Activities

  • To specify the maximum number of rows to display in the table, select a number in the Limit total rows to drop-down list.

  • To specify the number of characters to display for labels down the column, select the number of characters from the Display label characters drop-down list. Then select the part of the label from which to trim characters from the second drop-down list.

  • To display labels that were previously trimmed, choose All from the Display label characters drop-down list. Or select No Suppression from the second drop-down list.

  • To create a User-Defined Hierarchy, select whether it is for private use, public use, or for group use and then click Edit.
