You can link a model connection with the context, specify defaults for displaying objectives and KPIs and their indicators if there is missing or null data, filter a scorecard by one member of each dimension in the dimensional model, and specify whether to use a Type dimension.

If you set filters, users can override the filter in the Scorecard component of the application by clicking Dimension filters.

Prerequisites

The dimensional model is set up with measures for the KPIs.

To use the Use Measure Type Dimensions drop-down list, the dimensional model has a Type dimension.

The administrator has created a model connection. For information, see Model Connection Development.

Someone with Create/Edit Contexts permissions has created a context. For more information, see Context Development.

Someone with Create/Edit Objectives permissions has created perspectives and objectives. For more information, see Perspective and Objective Library Development.

You are an administrator or a user assigned to an application group with Create/Edit Scorecards permissions. If Scorecards is unavailable to you, it means you do not have the correct permissions.

Features

You can do the following to set scorecard defaults:

  • Select a context from the Context drop-down list to work with the scorecard defaults for this context.

  • Specify the Application Server model connection to associate with this context. For information, see Linking a Model Connection to the Context.

The PAS Model Connection you specify is the key link between the context, the dimensional model, and users. Information from the dimensional model is used for the KPI data. It also controls which users can access the data associated with the dimensional model. Before you can use any other scorecard default features, you must select the model connection from the PAS Model Connection drop-down list. For information, see Building the Link Between Users, Context, Model Connection, and Model.

  • Specify the default periodicity to use for the KPI's measures by selecting a periodicity from the Default Periodicity drop-down list.

  • (Optional) If you want your context to apply data from only one aspect of a dimension rather than the total dimension, filter your context using Edit Filters. For example, say you have a Territory dimension that explores Asia, Emerging markets, Europe, and North America. By default information about the entire territory will be reflected in the context. You may plan to create individual contexts for each territory, and then filter each context by one territory. You might want to start by creating a North America context and filtering it for the North America territory. Once that is in place, you might want to then create a European context for your European territory, and so on. For information, see Filtering the Scorecard View by Dimension Members.

  • (Optional) Reset the filters to their original values by clicking Reset Filters. Information displayed in the application is reset to represent all the top levels of dimensions. For example, if you are currently filtering a scorecard by the North America territory, you can reset the scorecard so that the information represents all territories.

  • (Optional) If the dimensional model has a Type dimension, you can specify a Type dimension using the Use Measure Type Dimensions. The current member of the dimension replaces all instances of the target value in the Scorecard component. Depending on how your implementation is set up, the Use Measure Type Dimensions drop-down list may be unavailable to you. For information, see Actual to Non-Target Value Comparison in the Scorecard Component.

  • Specify how to display KPIs in the Scorecard component when the KPI has missing or null data. You can display the KPI but omit the status indicator, or you can omit the display of the entire KPI and status indicator.

  • Specify how to display objectives in the Scorecard component when the objective has missing or null data. You can display the objective but omit the display of the status indicator. Or you can choose display the objective and also display the status indicator. If you choose this option, a drop-down list appears so you can specify which status indicator to associate with the objective that has missing or null data. Or you can omit the display of the entire objective and status indicator.

  • Specify whether you want to allow additional Actual and Target columns in the Scorecard views of the Scorecard component. The additional columns allow users to compare the current actual/target for the latest period with actual/target values from other time periods. For example, you can view actual/target for the latest quarter and also the previous quarter. You can add up to seven Actual and Target columns in addition to the Actual and Target columns for the latest period. Actual and target are paired as a set. You cannot define just one column. For more information, see Specifying Additional Actual/Target Columns for Scorecards.
