Prerequisites
-
The translation environment has been set up completely.
-
At least one evaluation run has taken place.
-
Your translator profile has authorization object TRW1 with the value 01.
-
In transaction LXE_MASTER, you have been
defined as a translator for the required target language.
-
Collections from this worklist have been assigned to you for
translation.
-
You know the number of the worklist that contains the objects you need to translate. Ask your translation coordinator if you do not know the worklist number.
Before you call up a worklist, you can maintain the worklist
settings to suit the way you work. You can also maintain standard values for
the language direction so that you do not have to maintain it every time you call up a
worklist. For more information on how to maintain standard values for the language
direction, see Transaction SE63 and refer to the section Defining Your Translator
Settings.
Note
If you are a translation coordinator with the relevant authorizations then you can also choose to call up objects via the
worklist pool.
Context
You can use transaction SE63 to call up objects
to be translated in a worklist. You can then edit these objects, either individually or
sequentially, directly from the worklist. Translators can only call up objects in a
worklist if they belong to collections assigned to them for translation, and if no other
translator has already reserved them in his or her worklist. You have various options
for determining the contents and scope of your worklist. You do not need to know the
object types and technical names of the objects to be translated.
Procedure
- In the initial screen of transaction SE63, choose .
This takes you to the My Worklist: Parameters dialog
box.
- If no active worklist is available, check the source language,
target language, and worklist number. These values are taken from your translation
settings.
- If an active worklist is already available and you want to
reset it before accessing a new worklist, select the
Reset active worklist and create new worklist radio
button.
- Choose Copy (Enter).
The system displays the Create Worklist screen. A
reservation number for accessing a worklist is created for your user. This
reservation number prevents you from calling up worklists for several language
directions at the same time, which can lead to technical problems.
- On the Standard Worklist tab page, you can see your user
name, the source and target language, the reservation number, and the worklist
number. Make the required settings on this tab page:
Note
This documentation deals only with translating in a
standard worklist, however, if you have the appropriate
authorizations then you can also choose to translate via the worklist pool or using an on-the-fly worklist.
-
Collections
On the pushbutton next to Collections, the system
displays the number of collections that are assigned to you. If you only
want to call up a worklist for some of the collections assigned to you,
choose the pushbutton next to Collections and select the required collections. Otherwise, leave the default
collections as they are.
We recommend that you call up a worklist for one collection at a time. You
can use the statistics to decide which collections to
take into account when calling up a worklist.
-
Domains
All domains are
selected by default. If you only want to call up a worklist for objects
belonging to particular domains, choose the pushbutton next to
domains. This takes you to a dialog box that
enables you to double-click domains to select or deselect them. The selected
domains are highlighted in yellow. After you have made your selections,
choose Execute to return to the Create
Worklist screen.
-
Object Types
All of the object types that are defined for translation into your
target language are selected by default. If you only want to call up a
worklist for particular object types, choose the pushbutton next to
object types. This takes you to a dialog box that
enables you to expand the object group nodes and then double-click
individual object types to select or deselect them. The selected object
types are highlighted in yellow. After you have made your selections, choose
Execute to return to the Create
Worklist screen.
-
Object Name
The Object Name field enables you to enter some or
all of the name of a particular object if you want to reserve something very
specific in your worklist. Wildcard entries are possible. For example, you
can call up a worklist for all collections assigned to you, all domains and
all object types, but only for objects whose technical names include the
string *SXE*.
-
Number per Object Type
The value displayed in this field is taken from your worklist settings. To change this value on the
Standard Worklist tab page, your translator profile
must include authorization object TRWC with the value 01.
Note
An object can only be reserved in one standard worklist at a time. If you
call up a worklist with a large number of objects per object type for
collections that are assigned to more than one translator for the same
target language, this reduces the number of objects that your colleagues
can reserve in their worklists. We therefore recommend that you restrict
the number of objects per object type to the number that you can
translate on one day. Note that if you enter 25 in the Number per Object
Type field in a system where 150 object types are defined for translation
into your target language, you could then reserve up to 3750 objects in
your worklist.
-
Status of Objects
The Status of Objects checkboxes enable you to
determine whether you want to reserve objects with new, modified,
or translated status in your worklist. The
New and Modified checkboxes
are selected by default. We recommend that you only call up 100% translated
objects in your worklist if you have a specific reason for doing so, for
example, because you want to change particular translations.
-
Add Related Objects
If you want your worklist to include related objects, select the
Add Related Objects checkbox. Objects that are
related to each other are then reserved in your worklist, such as the
interface texts, Screen Painter texts, and text elements for the program
SAPLPROG. For more information, see Adding Related Objects to a Worklist.
- Choose
Reserve Objects.
Results
The system takes you to the Standard Worklist: Objects for
<User Name>
from
<Source Language>
to
<Target Language> screen. The system reserves objects in your
worklist in accordance with your settings. If you selected several collections, the
system calls up as many objects as possible from the first collection before calling up
objects from the next collection.
