Prerequisites
-
If you want to create an object list on the basis of a single transport request,
you need to create a transport request and fill it with all the objects that you
want to translate, and ensure that it is available in the system. If you want to
create an object list on the basis of several existing transport requests, make
sure that you know exactly which transport requests contain the objects that you
want to translate, and that they do not contain objects that
are not relevant for translation.
-
If you want to create an object list on the basis of a local list, you need to
create a local list that contains the objects that you want to translate.
-
You are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** in transaction
LXE_MASTER.
-
Your translator profile has authorization object OBJL with
the value 01.
Context
An object list should contain all objects relevant for translation. Object lists serve
as the basis for an evaluation, which creates worklists and statistics. Only the objects
contained in the object list appear in the worklists and statistics.
Note
This document explains how to create one object list. If you want to schedule an object list and evaluation to be created periodically, such as once a week, see
Scheduling Evaluations.
You can create object lists according to one or more of the following criteria:
-
For a selection of packages (collections) and object types
-
For one or more transport requests, whereby it is possible to specify a generic
selection of transport requests, such as all Workbench requests released since
January 2007.
-
For one or more transport objects, such as a selection of programs, data elements,
and messages.
-
For one or more local lists.
For more information, see
Object Lists.
Procedure
- Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
- On the Evaluations tab page, choose Object
Lists.
The Object Lists dialog box appears. Any existing
object lists are displayed in this dialog box.
- If an object list already exists, and was created with exactly the same parameters
that you want to define now (for example, all objects in collections with names
starting with Z*), then the simplest way to create a new object list is to copy the
existing object list. Select the object list to be copied and choose the
Create new object list run with template icon. If you want to
check or modify the parameters, choose the Parameters button
and modify the parameters as described below. If you simply want to schedule the
object list, proceed to step 11 of this procedure. The system creates a new object
list according to the same parameters, adding any new objects that match these
parameters since the last object list was created.
- To create a new object list with different parameters to
existing object lists, choose
Create new object list run.
- Enter a description of the object list in the Description
field, and save your entry.
Try to enter as meaningful a description as possible to help you recognize the
object list again later.
The Parameters dialog box appears.
- To refresh the domains, select the checkbox Refresh Terminology
Domains. We recommend that you do this each time that you create an
object list.
- If you want the object list to contain objects from specific packages
(collections), proceed as follows:
- Under Evaluate Collections, choose No
Entries next to Object Types.
The Object Type Selection (Object Groups)
dialog box appears.
- Double-click the object types to be taken into account when the object list
is created and choose
Execute. This takes you back to the Parameters dialog
box. The number of selected object types is displayed on the pushbutton next to
Object Types.
- Choose No Entries next to
Collections.
The Collections dialog box
appears.
- Select the collections to be taken into account when the object list
is created and choose Save.
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog
box. The number of selected collections is displayed on the pushbutton next to
Collections.
- If you want the object list to contain objects from one or more transport requests,
proceed as follows:
- Under Evaluate Transports, choose No
Entries next to Transports.
The Transports/Piece Lists dialog box
appears.
- In the Request column, enter some (or all) of the name
of the transport request that you want to use as the basis of the object list.
In the Type column, use the input help to select the
required transport type. In the Status column, use the
input help to select the required transport status. The Start
Date, Start Time, End
Date, and End Time fields enable you to
collect generic transport requests from a certain time period. Here are a few
examples of entries you can make in this dialog box:

- Alternatively, if you have a list of requests that you want to use as the
basis for the object list, copy their names to your clipboard, then choose
Import from Clipboard in the Transports/Piece
Lists dialog box.The system enters the required transports correctly in the dialog box,
saving you time.
- Choose
Save. You return to the Parameters dialog
box.
- If you want the object list to contain objects from specific transport objects,
proceed as follows:
- Under Evaluate Transport Objects, choose No
Entries next to Transport Objects.
The
Transport Objects dialog box
appears.

- Choose
Save. You return to the Parameters dialog box. The
number of selected transport objects is displayed on the pushbutton next to
Transport Objects.
- If you want the object list to contain objects from specific local lists, proceed
as follows:
- Under Evaluate Local Lists, choose No
Entries next to Local Lists.
All existing local lists are displayed in a hierarchy.
- Select the local lists that you want to include in the object list.
- Choose Execute.
You return to the Parameters dialog box. The
number of selected local lists is displayed on the pushbutton next to Local
Lists.
- After you have defined the parameters for the object list, choose the
Schedule button.
- Schedule the object list report to run in the background.
Results
The system creates the object list in accordance with the parameters you defined.
The system creates the object list with the next available sequential number. It is
displayed at the bottom of the list in the Object Lists dialog
box, together with its job status, the user who created the object list, and the
creation date.
As soon as the object list report has finished, you can perform the following
activities:
-
Select the object list and choose
Display content of selected object lists to display the
total number of objects and number of objects for each object type contained in
the object list, as well as the original language of the objects.
-
Evaluate the object list for one or more target languages. For more information, see
Creating Evaluations.
-
Use the object list as the basis for calling up an on-the-fly worklist. For more
information, see On-The-Fly Translation.
-
Use the object list as the basis for exporting translation data. For more information, see
Exporting Translation Data.
-
Use the object list as the basis for creating
top texts. For more information, see
Creating Top Texts.
You can also manipulate the contents of an object list by
editing it or
merging several object lists. See the following topics for more information:
