Translating from the Worklist PoolLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • The translation environment has been set up completely.
  • At least one evaluation run has taken place.
  • Your translator profile has authorization object TRW3 with the value 01.
  • If you want to select any collection, not just the collections assigned to you, your translator profile has authorization object COSE with the value 01.
  • In transaction LXE_MASTER, you have been defined as a translator for the required target language.
  • You know the number of the worklist that contains the objects you need to translate.

Before you call up a worklist via the worklist pool, you can maintain the worklist settings to suit the way you work. You can also maintain a default language direction. For more information on how to maintain a default language direction, see Transaction SE63 and refer to the section Defining Your Translator Settings.

Context

If you coordinate translation into a particular target language, you can use the worklist pool to call up objects from the standard worklist. Providing that your translator profile includes authorization object COSE with the value 01, you can use the worklist pool to call up objects in collections that are not assigned to you. When you call up a worklist via the worklist pool, objects are not reserved in your worklist but simply loaded, which means that other translators can reserve the same objects for translation in a standard worklist at the same time. The worklist pool has the advantage that you can work on the objects in the collections of another translator (perhaps during short-term absence) without having to reassign all of their collections. It is also useful for viewing and accessing an object about which a translator has reported a problem without needing to reset that translator's worklist first.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction SE63 and choose Start of the navigation path Worklist Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path.

The My Worklist: Parameters dialog box appears.

  2. Under Language Pair, set the Source Language and Target Language.
  3. If you have already reserved objects in a standard worklist, you must reset it before you can call up a new worklist via the worklist pool. In this case, the Reset active worklist and create new worklist checkbox is displayed. Select it.
  4. Choose Enter.

    The Create Worklist screen appears.

  5. Select the Worklist Pool tab page where you can see the source and target language and the worklist number. Make the required settings on this tab page:
    • Collections

On the pushbutton next to Collections, the system displays the number of collections that are assigned to you. To select a collection that is assigned to another translator, choose the pushbutton next to Collections and select the required collections.

    • Domains

All domains are selected by default. If you only want to call up a worklist for objects belonging to particular domains, choose the pushbutton next to Domains. This takes you to the Domain Selection dialog box. The selected domains are highlighted in yellow. After you have made your selections, choose Execute Execute to return to the Worklist Pool tab page on the Create Worklist screen.

    • Object Types

All of the object types that are defined for translation into your target language are selected by default. If you only want to call up a worklist for particular object types, choose the pushbutton next to Object Types. This takes you to the Object Types (Object Groups) dialog box where the selected object types are highlighted in yellow. After you have made your selections, choose Execute Execute to return to the Worklist Pool tab page on the Create Worklist screen.

    • If you only want to call up objects that include a specific text string in their name, enter this string as a wildcard in the Object Name field.

      Example

To access only those objects whose name contains the string CRM, enter *CRM* in the Object Name field.

    • Number per Object Type

The value displayed by the system in this field is taken from the worklist settings.

    • Status of Objects

The Status of Objects checkboxes enable you to determine whether you want to load new, modified, or translated objects in your worklist. The New and Modified checkboxes are selected by default. We recommend that you only include translated objects in your worklist if you have a specific reason for doing so, for example, because you want to change a particular translation.

  6. Choose Load Objects.

Results

The system takes you to the Worklist Pool: Objects for <User Name> from <Source Language> to <Target Language> screen. The system loads the objects in your worklist in accordance with your settings. These objects are not reserved in your worklist. When you exit the worklist, it is automatically reset.
