Maintaining TranslatorsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • Appropriate translator profiles must be available.

  • If you want to use translator teams and/or translator groups, appropriate translator teams and/or translator groups must be available.

  • If you want to create or delete translators for a specific target language, you are defined as a coordinator for that language in transaction Translation Administration (LXE_MASTER).

  • If you want to create or delete translators for all languages, you are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** in transaction LXE_MASTER.

  • Your translator profile must include the authorization object USER with the value 01.

Context

You create translators in transaction LXE_MASTER. After you have created a translator for a target language, you can assign collections to the translator. This enables the translator to

You must assign a translator profile to the translator. The translator profile determines what exactly the translator is authorized to do in the translation environment.

You can assign a translator team and/or translator group to the translator. They enable you to organize translators who work together at the same external translation agency.

You can create a translator for more than one target language. For example, if ROMERO needs to translate into Spanish and Catalan, then you create her once as a translator into target language esES and once again as a translator into target language caES. You are not obliged to assign the same translator profile to both translators.

Some translator profiles enable translators to coordinate as well as translate. For example, translator profile IC Internal Coordinator includes authorization object USCO value 02, which allows the user to create and delete assignments of collections to translators into the same target language.

If you want to authorize a user to perform coordination tasks for all languages, you create the user for target language **** (All Languages). Note that some translator profiles include authorization objects that only take effect if the user is defined as a coordinator for all languages. For example, translator profile TA Translation Administrator includes authorization object OBJL value 01, which allows the user to create and delete object lists in transaction LXE_MASTER but only if the user is a coordinator for all languages.

Caution

It is not possible to assign collections to a user that is created as a coordinator for target language **** (All Languages).

Only create a coordinator for target language **** if he or she does absolutely no translation and purely coordinates.
