Automatic Master Data Generation To integrate force elements with the processes of the
Controlling
component, you generate the necessary CO objects and assignments in accordance with rules that you have specified for newly created or modified force elements.
You have configured the settings for automatic master data generation in the Implementation Guide (IMG) under in the following activities:
Under
Control: Master Data Generation - Accounting
, define the
generation rules
. For every combination of country, organizational area, and structure level for each CO object type, you specify whether the affected force elements receive their own CO objects or inherit relevant assignments of higher level force elements.
Under
Settings for Master Data Generation
, you can configure the following settings for each controlling area:
You specify which cost center and profit center groups are to be used during the approval process for temporary or technically required assignments.
.
Recommendation
For example, create the cost center group CC-PLANNED with the description
Planned Cost Centers
below the top node in the hierarchy being used.
You specify whether a simulation is to be carried out before generation. You can use the results of the simulation to decide whether you want to generate the simulated objects. Otherwise, the generation is carried out when the function is executed (applies only when generation does
not
use the workflow).
You specify whether the master data should be generated using a workflow. For more information about the workflow that is provided as standard, see the
Cost Centers/Profit Centers Workflow
.
Note
The associated workflow function module /ISDFPS/AC_WF_GEN_WORKFLOW that triggers the account assignment workflow for generating master data is not a module from Customizing for follow-up actions .
You specify the naming convention for generated objects.
The system generates the following CO master data or assignments (depending on the Customizing settings, new objects and assignments are created or inherited) for each force element concerned in
Planned
status using the
Generation and Assignment of CO Account Assignment Objects
application (transaction /ISDFPS/ACCMDGEN):
Generated Objects
Cost center , if the force element concerned should receive its own cost center in accordance with the generation rule in Customizing; otherwise, the force element inherits the higher-level cost center
If the force elements are not yet in
Active
status, new cost centers receive a
temporary
assignment to the temporary cost center group that is specified in Customizing.
Profit center , if the force element concerned should receive its own profit center in accordance with the generation rule in Customizing; otherwise, the force element inherits the higher-level profit center
If the force elements are not yet in
Active
status, new profit centers receive a
temporary
assignment to the temporary profit center group that is specified in Customizing.
Locked cost centers and profit centers are created. Checks and follow-up actions are available to unlock cost centers and profit centers for cases in which the status of the force element is changed.
Generated Assignments
Assignment of the new cost center to new profit center (if available), otherwise to the next higher-level profit center
If the system cannot determine a profit center, the dummy profit center that is specified in the Customizing settings is entered.
Assignment of the force element to an individual or inherited cost center in accordance with the generation rule
Assignment of the force element to an individual or inherited profit center in accordance with the generation rule
Assignment of the force element to an individual or inherited cost center group in accordance with the generation rule
Note
If the force element is to have its own cost center group, the group is not created until a later stage.
Assignment of the force element to an individual or inherited profit center group in accordance with the generation rule
Note
If the force element is to have its own profit center group, the group is not created until a later stage.
To display the assignment in the
Structures Workbench
and for technical information about the relationships, see
Account Assignment and Budgeting
.
You can generate master data as described below:
Automatic Master Data Generation With Workflow
If you change the status of a force element, you can trigger the process for generating master data in the check dialog box by choosing
Start Account Assignment Workflow
.
The system determines the relevant data changes (new force element or changes to infotype 1000 or 1950) and sends a work item to the processor responsible for CO master data generation. When the processor executes the work item, the system first generates the master data in simulation mode. After receiving the results of the simulation, the processor has the following options:
If the recipient approves the simulated generation, the generation is executed accordingly. The initiator receives a corresponding work item.
Approve the generation if the results of the simulation meet your requirements entirely or for the most part. If necessary, you can then call the
Structures Workbench
directly to make manual adjustments.
If the recipient rejects the simulated generation, the generation is not executed. The initiator receives a corresponding work item.
The initiator can then complete the status change for the force element.
Automatic Master Data Generation Without Workflow
You can also use the application without a workflow.
To do so, go to the Implementation Guide (IMG) and choose: .
Alternatively, you can go the structure area of the
Structures Workbench
and choose:
to start the generation directly for a selected force element.
If you have not made Customizing settings so that simulation takes place, the objects are created directly. Otherwise, you first receive the results of the simulation.
Manual Master Data Generation
You can also use manual master data generation for postprocessing and as an alternative to automatic generation.
You have generated the required CO master data for new or modified force elements. Now execute the approval process for the force elements until the status is set to
Active
and then trigger automatic
hierarchy generation
.
