Definition

A WCM object for controlling communication between WCM-relevant orders and applications. In the work approval, measures are requested to ensure a safe environment for work on a technical system. As a higher-level WCM object, the work approval can combine the work clearance application with other additional applications , for example, boiler inspection certificate, permit for working with radioactive materials, and permit for working with open flames.

Use

The work approval is only used in the enhanced model of work clearance management and is the central safety certificate there. Maintenance personnel request the work approval from those responsible for worker safety, radiation protection, and so on.

In the work approval, you can define which applications are to be created automatically .

Structure

On the one hand, work approvals are assigned to WCM-relevant orders , where they control whether “release for execution” is granted by using the approval status, and on the other hand, work approvals are assigned to the applications that they control and monitor.

Note the following assignment rules:

A work approval can be assigned to several orders. However, an order can only ever be assigned to one work approval. (Assignment rule R3)

An application can be assigned to several work approvals, and vice versa. (Assignment rule R4)

A work approval can be assigned to several applications of an application type. For example, it is possible for several work clearance applications to be assigned to one work approval. (Assignment rule R5)

If you work with work permits , the following additional restriction applies:

An order can only be assigned to one work approval. A work approval can only be assigned to one order. (Restriction for assignment rule R3)

An application can only be assigned to one work approval, and only if work permits are created for an operation. One work approval can, however, be assigned to several applications. (Restriction for assignment rule R4)

In Customizing you can define that the work approval is completed automatically if the corresponding prerequisites for the completion have been met.
