Packing in Returns ASNs
Packing is a function on the Web user interface of SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) that is available for ASNs in the inbound delivery process, and for returns ASNs (RASNs). In the RASN details, customer and vendor can call the packing screen and manually pack the items (RMAs) of a returns ASN into handling units, before publishing the ASN. Only the special features of packing in returns ASNs are detailed here. This includes the following restrictions:
● Automatic packing based on a packaging specification is not available.
● You cannot use auxiliary packaging materials.
For more information about the packing function properties that are generally valid, see Packing.
● In the SAP SNC system, you have created a product master for the HU packaging material in which you want to pack the product.
● You have entered weight data and data about the packing capacity in the product master of the packaging material.
● In the location product master of the product in the supplier location and in the customer location, you have also entered data that is relevant for weight calculation and the packing capacity
For more information, see Settings for Packing.
In the standard system you can pack the RMAs into handling units (HUs) at single-level or multi-level. For multi-level packing, you can pack the products into HUs and then pack these HUs into bigger HUs. If you only want to permit single-level packing, activate the HU_MULTI_LEVEL validation check.
You
can specify external or internal
number assignment for HUs. This is a standard function
that is also available for ASNs in the inbound delivery process. The following
alternative to external and internal number assignment exist for
returns ASNs: If the vendor transfers HU numbers and packaging material in the
return delivery instruction for the RMAs, you can also use these transferred
HU numbers and packaging materials. If you want to use the transferred HU numbers, call
the Create Default HUs function in the returns ASN details. This function uses the transferred HU numbers and
packaging materials to create empty HUs, and displays these in the packing
screen. The function
creates one HU per HU number, with the transferred packaging material.
The supplier can transfer serial numbers in the return delivery instruction for the RMA. You can consider serial numbers when packing the RASN items. For more information, see Serial Numbers.
You call the packing screen in the returns ASN details using Pack, or – if you want to use the HUs from the return delivery instruction – using Create Default HUs. Proceed as follows:
● If you called the packing screen using Pack, you must first manually create the necessary empty HUs on level 1. You then manually pack the RMAs into the empty HUs.
● If you called the packing screen using Create Default HUs, the packing screen displays, on level 1, the empty HUs that SAP SNC created using the HU numbers and packaging materials from the return delivery instruction. Then you only need to manually pack the RMAs into HUs.
