Functions for Manual Packing 

Use

As long as you, as supplier, have not yet published an advanced shipping notification (ASN), you can pack the ASN items manually on a single level or multiple levels, or manually process an automatically generated packing proposal. Various functions are available on the packing screen for this purpose.

Activities

Call the Packing Screen in Change Mode

...

       1.      Select the ASN in the ASN overview and choose Change.

       2.      Choose Packing in the ASN details.

Create an Empty HU

...

       1.      Choose the Create HU function in the HU – Hierarchical View screen area.

The system shows the HU Details tab page.

       2.      Enter the packaging material of the HU on the HU Details tab page.

       3.      If manual number assignment has been defined, enter an HU number. In the case of automatic number assignment, you do not enter a number.

       4.      Choose OK.

The system creates the HU and, in the case of automatic number assignment, assigns a number that you can overwrite manually. The system adds a row for the HU in the HU – Hierarchical View screen area. The HU is on packaging level one.

Create an Empty HU One Packing Level Below Another HU

Select the HU below which you want to add an additional HU and choose Create HU. Continue as described under "Create Empty HU".

Pack ASN Items and Auxiliary Packaging Materials into an HU

In an HU, you can pack auxiliary packaging materials and – on the innermost packing level – products. You can choose between the following options:

●      First method

                            a.      In the ASN Items screen area, select the ASN item that you want to pack. In the HU – Hierarchical View screen area, select the HU into which you want to pack the product.

                            b.      Choose the Pack function in the HU – Hierarchical View screen area.

The system shows the Packed Products tab page.

                            c.      Specify the quantity of the ASN item that you want to pack.

                            d.      If you want to pack an additional item in the HU, choose Pack Another Item to add a new row and enter the item number and the quantity to be packed.

                            e.      Choose OK.

                              f.      If required, enter the auxiliary packaging materials on the Auxiliary Packaging Material tab page and choose OK.

●      Second method

...

                            a.      Select the HU row or click the HU number. The system shows the HU Details tab page.

                            b.      Choose the Edit HU Properties function on the HU Details tab page.

The system shows the Packed Products tab page.

                            c.      Continue as described for the first method.

Change Data on the Tab Pages for the HU and HU Content

If you want to perform the following actions on the HU Details, Packed Products, and Auxiliary Packaging Material tab pages, choose Edit HU Properties on the relevant tab page.

●      Change HU data

●      Pack additional items and auxiliary packaging materials

●      Unpack items or auxiliary packaging materials

The system shows the relevant functions and makes the fields ready for input.

Cut HU or HU Hierarchy

You need this function, along with the Paste function, to multiply HUs and to build up an HU hierarchy. To cut an empty HU or an HU with its contents (such as products, auxiliary packaging materials, and lower-level HUs) – that is, an HU hierarchy – you select the HU and choose Cut. The system removes the selected HU with its contents and puts it on the clipboard. The system keeps the HU on the clipboard until you cut another HU or you end the session.

Paste HU or HU Hierarchy

You can use Paste to paste a cut HU with its contents from the clipboard back to packaging level one or a packaging level below a target HU.

●      If you want to paste the cut HU and its contents into packaging level one, do not select an HU. Choose Paste.

●      If you want to append the cut HU or HU hierarchy below a target HU, select the target HU and choose Paste.

If you want to retain the HU and its contents at the same location as you cut the HU, you must also paste the HU at this location using Paste.

Delete HUs

If you want to reject the packing proposal that you edited in the current session and have not yet saved, choose Reload ASN. The system loads the ASN version with the packing proposal that was last saved. If you create an ASN new, you cannot use the Reload ASN function.

Save Packing Proposal

If you want to save the HUs, choose Save ASN Draft. The system saves the ASN with the packing data as a draft. You go back to the ASN details. If you want to continue processing the packing data of the ASN, you must call the ASN again in change mode.

Unpack HUs

In the HU – Hierarchical View screen area, you can use the Unpack function to unpack a selected HU again. The system empties this HU. Therefore, it removes the auxiliary packaging materials and the products or the lower-level HUs from this HU. The system puts the lower-level HUs on packaging level 1. However, the system does not empty the lower-level HUs that were packed in this HU.

On the Packed Products and Auxiliary Packaging Material tab pages, you can also unpack selected items or auxiliary packaging materials from a handling unit (see the section "Change Data on the Tab Pages for the HU and HU Content").
