Structure - Detail
This function gives you an overview of the project structure and all the project elements it contains. Multiple selection is possible. You must select at least one project element. You can also edit the project structure and its elements.
Note
You can also edit the project in the table view (see Table View) or in the graphical view (see Graphical View).
If you want to adjust the width of the structure tree area in the detail view of a project by the use of a splitter control, you have made a corresponding entry for area 0006 User Interface Settings
, setting 0028 Adjustment of Structure Tree Area by Splitter
in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management
under .
You can carry out the following activities:
Select or deselect project elements
Create project elements (see Creating Project Elements)
Include elements from project templates and operational projects (see Including Elements from Templates or Projects)
Delete project elements
Cut, copy, and paste project elements
Multiple copy and paste: If you have selected a project element, the system also takes all subordinate project elements that belong to this project element into account when copying the objects. When you paste a project element, the system also inserts all sub trees.
Expand or collapse sub trees
Move project elements up or down in the project structure (see Moving Project Elements Up or Down)
Indent or outdent project tasks
Set filters (see Setting the Filter)
Drag and drop project elements:
You can place an element between two other elements in the structure tree by clicking the element and keeping the mouse button pressed. As soon as the element is selected, you can drag the element to a different position in the tree and drop it between two elements.
You can make an element a sub object of another element by clicking the element and keeping the mouse button pressed. As soon as the element is selected, you can drag the element to the relevant project element, and drop it on this project element. If you have selected multiple project elements, you can only paste them if they have the same type (such as phase, checklist item, and so on).
Drag and drop of project elements is available for operational projects, templates, and simulations. It is only available in edit mode.
Note
If more than one project element is selected and you drag and drop, the order in which the elements are inserted is the same order in which the elements have been selected.
The following drag and drop activities are possible for the different project elements:
Project element | Drag and drop activities |
|---|---|
Phases | You can change the order of phases in a project by using drag and drop. You cannot drop a phase onto another project element. |
Tasks (including master tasks, sub projects, and milestones) | You can use drag and drop to change the order of the tasks, as well as their position in the hierarchy. You can drag a task from a position directly below the project definition to a position below a phase or another task, and vice versa. |
Checklists | You can use drag and drop to change the order of the checklists, as well as their position in the hierarchy. You can drag a checklist from a position directly below the project definition to a position below a phase or a task, and vice versa. By dropping a checklist on a subtask of a checklist item, you can create a checklist hierarchy. |
Note
The project definition is always located at the top of the hierarchy. Therefore, no drag and drop is possible. If you select a task together with a mirrored task and drag them to a different position, the system moves both the task and the mirrored task, but when you drop both objects, only the task gets inserted.
