Creating Project Elements
You structure your project by creating new project elements.
You created a project definition (see Creating a Project Definition).
You opened a project for processing (see Opening a Project or Project Version).
You created a checklist template, as required (see Creating a Project Template).
Optional: You decided whether to focus on the project element or the message area when a message is issued.
The system automatically sets the focus to the Name
or Number
field when you create a project element. However, when a message is issued, the focus is shifted to the message area. You can switch off this logic, and ensure that the focus stays with the project element as follows: In Web Dynpro component FPM_OIF_COMPONENT
under Web Dynpro application CPROJECTS_FPM
, open the standard configuration CPROJECTS_FPM
, or the customer-specific configuration that you are using. Deactivate the WDACCESSIBILITY and WDSETFOCUSONMESSAGEAREA
Web Dynpro parameters. Note, however, that once you have deactivated these parameters, the focus will stay within the project element even if a message is issued and this new logic will apply throughout Project Management
.
In the structure tree on the left-hand side of the screen, select the project element for which you want to create new project elements (see Structure Tree). Above the structure tree, the system displays the most common project elements that are normally created in parallel to or below this project element, as well as a Create
dropdown list that lists the remaining project elements that you can insert parallel to or below the selected project element. The following table provides an overview of the possible project elements, as well the displayed Create
buttons for each project element:
Project Element | Possible Parallel Project Elements | Possible Lower-Level Project Elements | Displayed Create Buttons | What Else You should Know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Project Definition | - | Phase Task Checklist Checklist Reference Milestone Mirrored Task | Create Phase (lower-level) Create Task (lower-level) Create (remaining project elements) | You can only create checklists and tasks directly below the project definition if the project type of the current project allows this. |

You can only create subtasks, checklists, or checklist references if the project type of the current project allows this. See also: Task Hierarchies |

You can create project elements as follows:
In the structure tree, select the project element for which you want to create new project elements and then choose either the displayed Create
pushbuttons or the Create
dropdown list. The system adds parallel project elements of the chosen element type at the same level as the selected project element and lower-level project elements below the selected project element at the end of the list.
In the structure tree, click the selected project element with the secondary mouse button , then choose Create
and choose the project element that you want to create. The system adds parallel project elements of the chosen element type at the same level as the selected project element and lower-level project elements below the selected project element at the end of the list.
In the structure tree, click the selected project element with the secondary mouse button and then choose Create and Insert
. The system creates and inserts above the selected project element a parallel project element at the same level and with the same element type as the selected project element.
Enter the data for your new project element.
