 Notifications

Definition

A short message that notifies users of changes to collaborations, areas, folders, and other objects.

Use

You can send and receive notifications for the following objects:

  • Collaboration

  • Area

  • Folder

  • Document

  • Generic object

  • Engineering change number

  • Manufacturer part number

  • Data sheet

  • Material

  • Bill of material

  • Text

  • Bookmark

  • Discussion

  • iPPE node

  • iPPE variant

Notifications are object-specific. If you choose the Notifications pushbutton on the detail screen of one of these objects, you branch to a notification overview, which displays all notifications for that object and all its subordinate objects. If, for example, you choose Notifications on the detail screen for a folder, the system displays all received notifications related to the folder and to all its objects and subfolders. Manual Notifications

You can manually create notifications for an object. You create a notification on the notification overview screen, where you can choose to create a notification with or without using a notification template . It is mandatory to add a subject, and you can enter a note to provide more detail if required. It is only possible to send a notification for an object to a recipient who has at least read authorization for that object.

Automatic Notifications

You can create notifications that that you want the system to send automatically either when the object has a specific status, as a status action , or when the object changes status, for a status transition action .
