Procedure documentationIntegrating SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search into SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can integrate SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search into SAP NetWeaver Portal to provide portal users with unified, comprehensive, and secure real-time access to enterprise data. The search returns structured data (such as business objects) and unstructured data (HTML data, presentations, and documents) from SAP systems and other search providers and allows direct access to the associated applications and actions.

Integrating SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search into SAP NetWeaver Portal benefits your business users by making data more accessible within their work environment.

The following features are provided by this integration scenario:

  • Providing the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search categories in the search area within the portal masthead

  • Launching the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search user interface from the portal masthead (embedded in a new portal window)

Prerequisites

  • You have installed SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search 7.2 or higher.

  • You have installed SAP NetWeaver Portal (running on SAP NetWeaver 7.3 or higher).

Procedure

Note Note

These procedures are intended for a system landscape that implements SAP logon tickets for authentication purposes. However, if your authentication method is done with user mapping or if the automatic configuration has failed, then you should apply the manual configuration steps as described in Performing the configuration steps manually.

End of the note.

Automatic configuration is applied when you execute the Portal Integration of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search configuration task using the Configuration wizard in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator tool.

Perform the following configuration steps:

  1. Set up a trust relationship

You need to set up a trust relationship between the SAP NetWeaver Portal and the AS ABAP of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search. The step includes the certificate exchange and also domain relaxation if the portal and SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search are not in the same domain.

  2. Check the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search services

On the ABAP system you need to check that the two services provided by the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search system are active.

  3. Run the wizard-based configuration

You need to run a configuration wizard within the SAP NetWeaver Administrator tool that includes all the relevant connection parameters, sets up the connection, and activates the search features in the portal.
