Configuring the Data Archiving for KMCLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

In the standard SAP delivery, the archiving of Knowledge Management and Collaboration (KMC) data is not enabled by default. To enable the archiving of KMC data, you first need to perform some mandatory configuration steps.

Use this procedure to:

  • Configure the archiving repository that you want to use for storing the archived data

  • Configure the archiving user interface commands

  • Enable the archiving approval process in case of an archiving scenario with decentralized governance.

    Note

This configuration step is necessary only if you plan to implement an archiving scenario with decentralized governance.

In addition to the mandatory configuration tasks, you can optionally perform some additional configuration steps to fine tune the archiving scenario according to your requirements.

Procedure

  1. Configure the archiving repository that you want to use for storing the archived KMC data.

To configure the archiving repository, you first need to create and configure an archiving repository manager and then specify this manager in the Archiving Global Service definition. For more information, see Configuring the Archiving Landscape .

  2. Configure the archiving user interface commands.

To be able to mark KMC archiving objects for archiving, as well as to approve, reject, allow or forbid archiving for a certain resource, you need to configure the corresponding user interface commands. For more information, see Configuring the Archiving User Interface Commands .

  3. If you have decided to implement and archiving scenario with decentralized governance, enable the archiving approval process.

In a KMC data archiving scenario with decentralized governance, you must specify the repositories for which you want to enable the archiving approval process in the configuration of the Archiving Global Service . For more information, see Enabling the Archiving Approval Process .

  4. Optional: Perform the additional configuration steps to fine tune the archiving scenario according to your needs.

For more information, see Performing the Optional Configuration Steps .
