If you do not have the time to set up the translation environment, create translation graphs, create translators and assign collections to translators, and run regular evaluations, you can use the "on-the-fly" translation functions in transaction SE63 to access the objects that you want to translate.
The system calls up an on-the-fly worklist of the objects that match the criteria you enter here, without you having to perform major setup work.
You can then call up the objects and translate them. For more information, see Translating Objects via a Worklist .
Since on-the-fly translation uses dialog processes, it should only be used when you have a small number of objects to translate into a few languages as it is very performance intensive. If you have a large translation project, for multiple languages, we recommend that you define the translation environment as described in this documentation, and evaluate the objects that you want to translate.
To use the objects in an object list as the basis for on-the-fly translation, you need to create an object list .
To use the objects in a transport request as the basis for on-the-fly translation, you need to identify the transport request that contains the objects that you want to translate, or create a transport request that contains the objects that you want to translate.
On-The-Fly Translation for Objects in an Object List
First of all create an object list that contains the objects you want to translate.
Call transaction SE63 and choose .
Under Language Pair , set the Source Language and Target Language and choose Enter .
On the Object List tab page, choose F4 on the Object List field and double-click the object list whose objects you want to translate.
To call up all objects in this object list, select the Deactivate Selection checkbox.
Otherwise, to call up a subset of objects in this object list, leave this checkbox blank and proceed as follows:
If you only want to call up objects that belong to specific collections (called packages in the development environment), choose the Collections pushbutton and select the collections whose objects you want to translate. For more information on how to select collections in the dialog box that appears, see Selecting Collections .
If you only want to call up objects of specific object types, choose the
Object Types pushbutton and make sure that the object types that you want to translate are highlighted in yellow. Choose
.
If you only want to call up objects of a specific domain, choose the
Domains pushbutton and make sure that only the domains that you want to translate are highlighted in yellow. Choose
.
If you only want to call up objects that contain a specific text string in their name, enter this string as a wildcard in the Object Name field.
To access only those objects in the object list whose name contains the string CRM , enter *CRM* in the Object Name field.
Depending on your requirements, you can also select any of the following checkboxes:
Deactivate Original Language Check : If you select this checkbox the system does not check if the target language is the same as the original language.
Deactivate Language Settings : If you select this checkbox you are deactivating the language settings that are defined in LXE_MASTER. For example, if you are translating into English and object type DTEL is not defined for translation into this target language then by selecting this checkbox DTEL objects are included in this selection for target language English.
Deactivate Exceptions : If you select this checkbox you are choosing to deactivate all exception entries made in table LXE_LEXPT .
Calculate Top Texts : If you select this checkbox, the system creates on-the-fly top texts .
Choose Load Objects .
The system calls up the objects from the object list that match your selection criteria and makes them available in a temporary worklist. This worklist is not stored in the system, so you need to repeat this procedure the next time you log on to the system.
On-The-Fly Translation for Objects in a Transport Request
Call transaction SE63 and choose .
Under Language Pair , set the Source Language and Target Language and choose Enter .
On the Transport Request tab page, enter the name of the transport request whose objects you want to translate in the Transport Request field.
Alternatively enter the name of a transport object (e.g. R3TR PROG ZZFIN002) in the Transport Object field.
To call up all objects in this transport request, flag the Deactivate Selection checkbox.
Otherwise, to call up a subset of objects in this transport request leave this checkbox blank and proceed as follows:
If you only want to call up objects that belong to specific collections (called packages in the development environment), choose the Collections pushbutton and select the collections whose objects you want to translate. For more information on how to select collections in the dialog box that appears, see Selecting Collections .

If you only want to call up objects that contain a specific text string in their name, enter this string as a wildcard in the Object Name field.
To access only those objects in the transport request whose name contains the string ZFIN , enter *ZFIN* in the Object Name field.
On-The-Fly Translation for Objects in Collections in the System
Call transaction SE63 and choose .
Under Language Pair , set the Source Language and Target Language and choose Enter .
On the System tab page you can use an on-the-fly worklist to call some or all of the objects in collection in the system.
Be aware that this function is very time-consuming and can result in a system timeout.
To call up a subset of objects for this language pair, proceed as follows:
If you only want to call up objects that belong to specific collections (called packages in the development environment), choose the Collections pushbutton and select the collections whose objects you want to translate. For more information on how to select collections in the dialog box that appears, see Selecting Collections .

The system calls up the objects from the specified collections that match your selection criteria and makes them available in an on-the-fly worklist. This worklist is not stored in the system, so you need to repeat this procedure the next time you log on to the system.
On-The-Fly Translation for Objects in a Local List
Call transaction SE63 and choose .
Under Language Pair , set the Source Language and Target Language and choose Enter .
On the Local Lists tab page, select the name of the local list whose objects you want to translate in the Local List field.
To call up all objects in this local list, leave the Deactivate Selection checkbox selected.
