You can use this process to set up product-related master data.

Prerequisites

You have set up the system (Setting Up the System) and shop floor-related master data (see Setting Up Shop Floor-Related Master Data).

Process

  1. In Material Maintenance, you create material records for parents and components (see Material and Material Maintenance). If you are planning to use Inventory Receipt to receive components, you use the Manufactured/Purchased or Purchased type for them.

  2. In Material Group Maintenance, you assign materials to material groups, if required (see Material Group Maintenance).

  3. In BOM Maintenance, you create BOMs for parent materials by listing component materials (see Bill of Material (BOM) and Creating BOMs).

  4. In Material Maintenance, you associate BOMs with material records for parents.

  5. In Data Type Maintenance, you define the Assembly Data type (see Assembly Data Type and Data Type Maintenance).

  6. In Buyoff Maintenance, you define buyoff records in the system (see Buyoff and Buyoff Maintenance).

  7. In Inventory Receipt, you create inventory ID records (see Inventory ID).

  8. In Tool Number Maintenance, you define hand-held and portable equipment used in operations (see Tool Number and Tool Number Maintenance).

  9. In Tool Group Maintenance, you assign tools to groups, if required (see Tool Group Maintenance).
