Data Type Maintenance 
You can use this activity to specify the types of information to collect during the following processes:
Assembly (see Assembly Point)
Nonconformance logging (see Nonconformance (NC))
Packing (see Packing)
Return material authorization (RMA) (see Returns Management)

Category |
Defines an activity when the data is collected Assembly: Displays defined fields when operators add or remove components from assemblies, or add materials to inventory if a data type is assigned in Material Maintenance NC: Displays defined fields when an operator logs a nonconformance if a data type is assigned in NC Code Maintenance Packing Container: Displays defined fields data during packing if a data type is assigned in Container Maintenance Packing SFC: Displays defined fields about the SFC numbers being packed into a container during packing if a data type is assigned in Container Maintenance RMA Shop Order: Displays defined fields during RMA shop order receipt if a data type is assigned in Shop Order Maintenance RMA SFC: Displays defined fields during RMA SFC receipt if a data type is assigned in Shop Order Maintenance |
Data Type |
A group of data fields that are collected when this data type is assigned to an object. Displays the data types for the selected category. |
Validation Activity |
The activity used to validate the collected assembly data for materials associated with the specified data type. The specified activity can be used to calculate data type values.
This field appears only if the Assembly category is specified. End of the note. |
Kit |
If selected, the data type appears in the Data to Collect on Assembly field browse on the Build tab page of Material Maintenance when the material type is Kit.
This checkbox appears only if the Assembly category is specified. If this checkbox is selected, the first table row must be SFC. End of the note. |
Sequence |
The order the system displays the field defined by this row
The sequence value must be a whole number. End of the note. |

Type |
The type of data field Text: Users can enter text in the field. Text Area: Users can enter text in a larger area. Date: Users can enter a date in the field. Number: Users can enter a number in the field. Checkbox: Users can select a checkbox. |
Required |
If selected, users must enter a value in the field. |
Browse |
If selected, users can browse on the field.
