An identifier for a piece of equipment that can be used in an operation.

 

A tool can be used on more than one resource. Tools typically are hand-held or at least portable, and, unlike resources, are not scheduled by the shop floor manager. By contrast, a large piece of testing equipment or an entire workbench at which testing is performed would be defined as a resource.

Structure

Tool numbers can have the following attributes:

  • Status

  • Tool Group

  • Qty Available

  • Location

  • Calibration Type

  • Start Calibration Date

  • Calibration Period

  • Expiration Date

Integration

You can assign tool numbers to a tool group (see Tool Group Maintenance).

You can change the status of a tool number or all tool numbers in a tool group (see Change Equipment Status).
