Cash Desk Processing
You can use this function to process cash desk business processes in a subsidiary ledger in the SAP system. The cash desk subsidiary ledger is executed independently from the Financial Accounting component and makes it possible to represent cash payments exclusively as entered cash documents. Uncoupling the cash desk subsidiary ledger from financial accounting allows dynamic document entry, in addition to improving system performance. All cash documents can be passed on to financial accounting later on and posted there. Conversely, cash desk processing also allows the direct exchange of data with financial accounting. Data from FI documents can be imported from financial accounting into a cash document and direct data reconciliations can be made, such as payment blocks for payments.
In the cash desk subsidiary ledger you can enter common cash payments, such as incoming and outgoing payments and balance changes, as cash documents and, if necessary, they can be reversed. You define the payment transactions supported in cash desk activities in Customizing.
In a cash document, you need to enter FI account assignments of a customer, vendor or a G/L account, as well as the payment transaction and amount. You can also enter revenue type, reference document, FM account assignment or reference to earmarked funds. When the released cash documents are transferred to Accounting, the postings in the subsidiary ledgers and the reconciliation accounts of the general ledger are made.
