Target Group Generation 
You use this process to generate target groups, which you can then use,
For mass generation of activities, opportunities, direct mail, and e-mail as part of campaigns and trade promotions,
For creation of activity journals.

Process
Create a selection header
A selection header contains details such as the name, type, and employee responsible for a selection. It used to generate a target group.
You can create:
An independent selection header
The selection header that you create using this component is independent of any campaign, trade promotion, or activity journal. Therefore, a target group that is generated using this selection header can be used for campaigns, trade promotions, and during creation of activity journals.
A selection header for an activity journal
The selection header that you create in the Activity Journal Definition component is specific to an activity journal template. The target group that is generated is assigned to an activity journal template. Sales representatives use these activity journal templates, for example, to report on activities performed at the customer's site.

Generate a target group
You can generate a target group using a standard selection header or an advanced selection header.
Standard selection headers contain a fixed set of criteria using which you can generate target groups.

Advanced selection headers contain detailed criteria using which you can perform advanced searches.

You can now perform any of the following functions on the target group:
Process target groups
Create and change language-specific descriptions of target groups.
Create and maintain copies of target groups.

Add, remove, and replace members in target groups.
Create mass mailings for target group members using a Microsoft Word document.
Send e-mail messages to the business partners or contacts in a target group. In addition, you can send e-mail messages to the sales representatives who are associated with the business partners or contacts in a target group.

Result
You have created a target group.
