Procedure documentation Creating, Changing or Deleting Sites Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You create sites in order to define the local datasets of the replication that correspond to them. In addition, you can then assign sites to an organization.

Prerequisites

You must have selected the object type Sites in the Object type selection list.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

...

       1.      To create a new site, choose the Object ® Create function from the application menu, or the corresponding icon from the application toolbar.

       2.      Enter a unique name for the site in the Object information area, describe the site (optional) and select Site type. To select the attributes appropriate to your site type, choose Site attributes. These are, for example:

¡        The connection group and the transfer group for data exchange with a mobile site.

¡        The required RFC destination for an R/3 site; to call up the relevant values, choose Get Values.

If you have selected an existing site in the navigation window in order to change it, all this data is already displayed. You can now change the name and the description of the site. Depending on the site type, you can also change the attributes, if required.

       3.      Save the site you have just created and choose the Subscriptions tab page in the Dependent information subarea and then the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon (Assign) if you want to assign one or more subscriptions to the site. A dialog box containing a table of the available subscriptions for the respective site type is displayed.

       4.      Select the subscription(s) that you want in the dialog box that is currently displayed. To do this, select either individual subscriptions (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left) or all subscriptions (using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon) and choose Copy.The selected subscriptions are now displayed in the Assigned subscriptions tab page. If you do not want to select any subscriptions choose Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of already selected subscriptions, select the respective subscription(s) in the Subscription tab page by clicking the corresponding button in the first column on the left (or all subscriptions via This graphic is explained in the accompanying text)and choosing the Deassign This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon. The selected subscriptions are then removed from the tab page with the assigned subscriptions.

Caution

If the subscription is based on a publication of the type simple bulk or simple intelligent, the site will not contain any data if the assignment is cancelled. The data is supplied again when a new assignment is made. The data that has accrued for the site in the meantime is lost and cannot be reconstructed by the CRM middleware.

 

Using Indirect Assignment you can make newly assigned subscriptions available also to other sites within your organizational structure. You can also remove subscriptions whose assignment you have deleted, from other sites within your organizational structure.

       5.      Choose the Assigned employees tab page in the Dependent information subarea and then the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon (Assign) if you want to assign one or more employees to the site.The system displays a dialog box containing a table of the available employees.

       6.      Select the employees that you want in the dialog box that is currently displayed. To do this select either individual employees (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left) or all employees (using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon) and choose Copy.The selected employees are now displayed in the corresponding tab page. If you do not want to select any employees choose Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of employees that have already been selected, select the respective employee(s) in the Employees tab page by clicking the corresponding button in the first column on the left (or all employees via This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) and choose the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon. The selected employees are then removed from the tab page with the assigned employees.

       7.      If you want to assign your site to an organization, choose the Organizations tab page to assign one or more organizations to the site with the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Assign) icon. The system displays a dialog box containing a table of all the available organizations.

       8.      Select the organization(s) that you want in the dialog box that is currently displayed. To do this select either individual organizations (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left) or all organizations (using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon) and choose Copy.The selected organizations are now displayed in the Organizations tab page. If you do not want to select any organizations press Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of organizations that have already been selected, select these organizations in the Organizations tab page by clicking the corresponding button in the first column on the left (or all organizations via This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) and choose the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon. The organizations selected in this way are then removed from the Organizations tab page.

       9.      To define a site scheduling job for the site using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon, choose the tab page Scheduling. See also: Creating site scheduling jobs.

   10.      To create a new site or to change an existing one, choose the Object ® Save function or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar.

You can view the queues belonging to the selected site via the Queues tab page.

You can delete an existing site by using the Object ® Delete function or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar.

Note

When a site is deleted, its assignments to organizational units, employees, and all assigned subscriptions are also deleted.
