Use

Specify the subscription generator in order to be able to generate subscriptions, sites, and assignments between sites and subscriptions, and assignments of sites to employees.

Prerequisites

You have selected the object type subscription generator in the Object type list box.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Choose Object ® Create from the application menu, or the corresponding symbol from the application toolbar.

The Subscription Wizard that helps you to create a new subscription generator is started.

       2.      Choose Continue and enter a name for the subscription generator in the next screen. The name has to be unique.

                            a.      Specify for how much of the regularly executed background jobs run the generator should be executed respectively.

Generators that are based on the same replication objects should always run conjointly.

                            b.      Set the generator to active if it is to be included in the next background job.

Only active generators are included in background jobs.

                            c.      Specify the name of the text module in which you have recorded which sites, subscriptions and assignments the generator generates.

The text module has to be created in transaction SE61 under General text.

       3.      Choose Continue and then in the next screen select a publication for which the subscription is to be generated.

       4.      Make the following specifications for your generator:

Generator specifications

Field name

Description

Mode

·        Refresh

A comparison of the newly generated and previously generated records follows. In this mode old data records that are now no longer required are deleted.

·        Attach

New data records are attached during the generator run: All previously generated records remain.

Generating

The generator should generate:

·        Sites

·        Subscriptions

If generating is not possible at this point, the corresponding steps are hidden in the wizard.

Excluded/ Included

The employee is either explicitly included in the generating process or excluded from it.

If a publication has no criteria fields that can be maintained (for example it is unfiltered [bulk]), then it is only possible to exclude employees.

Safeguarding generated objects

Safeguard generated sites and subscriptions and assignments before they are deleted by other users.

       5.      Choose Continue. If you have chosen a publication that has criteria fields that can be maintained, only specify rules that determine how criteria values for generating subscriptions are to be found.

Criteria fields for previously selected publications are displayed in the table. The following options are available for defining rules:

Static where clauses are used if both the criteria values for the subscription to be generated and the employee keys are located in one table. See also: Using Static Where Clauses

Dynamic where clauses are used when the criteria values and the corresponding employee keys are located in more than one table. See also: Using Dynamic Where Clauses

Here define the call-up of a function module that determines the criteria values and employee keys for the subscription to be generated. See also: Using the Call Function

The determination of criteria values can be linked to the determination of other criteria fields by using an AND link. See also: Linking Criteria Fields.

       6.      To specify the site type for the generation, choose Continue and This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Assign). The list of site types is displayed. Select the required site type and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Copy).

Site type assignments can be removed by using This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Remove assignment).

                            a.      To determine the site attribute for the respective site type, select your entries one after another and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Site attribute) for each one.

All site types for which values are already determined have a green traffic light symbol.

                            b.      Set the active indicator for the sites to be generated, in case they should be active when generated.

For more on active sites, see also: Activating/ Deactivating Sites

Whether or not it is possible to set the active indicator depends on the entries in the site provider table. See also: Customer-Defined Site Types for Other Components.

                            c.      To generate default type sites, select Generate sites

If the indicator is not set, already existing sites are used. New sites are not generated.

                            d.      The namespace for the site to be generated can be changed. It is preassigned using the generator name determined beforehand.

       7.      Choose Continue and determine the namespace for the subscription to be generated. It is preassigned using the generator name and can be changed.

       8.      Select Generate all subscriptions in case there are also subscriptions to be generated that cannot be assigned to an employee.

       9.      To exclude or include employees from the generating process, choose Continue and This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. This is only possible if you selected the option to exclude/ include employees in the generator specifications. Assignments to employees can be removed again by using This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Remove assignments).

   10.      To create the new subscription generator choose Complete.

You will now be asked to transport the generator. See also: Transporting Subscription Generators.

Result

The new and active subscription generator is included in the background job.

For more on testing and executing the generator, see: Testing and Executing Subscription Generators.
